Baking - The Beginners Guide

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

I read through this whole thread in like one day and was drooling the whole time. Some of you guys in here are amazing with what you can do. I love to bake not because I enjoy the process but because I love to eat them! Especially anything with chocolate. I have an honest question though which i hope nobody minds, especially for the people who bake a lot, how do you stop yourself from getting morbidly obese? Coz like seriously if one weekend I made a cake and cupcakes I'd be ready to make something new the next week and try some of the awesome recipes here! I'd be eating this stuff constantly !

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

What is your guys' opinions on silicone bakeware? I want to try out sgc's oreo cookie cupcake recipe and I don't have a muffin/cupcake pan right now so I'd have to buy one. I used a regular muffin/cupcake baking pan at my cousins house one time and it was a mess trying to get the muffins out. I'm thinking with silicone bakeware you should at least be able to push out the muffin/cupcake?

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

if you've never tried, you'll never know if its actually hard!

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

yup! silicon is awesome.

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

If this thread had nothing to do with baking, this comment alone woudl be very very funny. :D

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

I read that confectioners sugar is finely ground granulated sugar. Does that mean you can just grind regular sugar in a grinder and use that sugar in place of confectioners sugar in a recipe for cupcake frosting?

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

^ i've done so in the past when i haven't had any on hand!
i used the smaller spice grinders to get the sugar really finely ground up.

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

For my daughter’s second birthday, i made a vanilla buttermilk cake with strawberry mousse filling and swiss buttercream. The cake turned out ok but the mousse and buttercream were to die for! I didnt have much time to do the cake decor but it was ok since we only celebrated at home with both sets of grandparents. Otherwise i would have done a barney themed cake since my daughter loves barney almost as much as she loves me.

A question, so im basically the only one who lovess chocolate cakes but when i make one, its a big size and i cannot eat the whole by myself... so i wanted to ask if it would work well if i make half of a recipe,, will the cake itself still come out good?

Re: Baking - The Beginners Guide

For the buttercream i used this:
