I don’t mean to sound ungrateful but I’m really disappointed by some of the birthday presents I got this year. That too by the closest friends. One is a flashy purse which although expensive is something I’d rather be caught dead wearing. The shirt I got is really really pretty but it’s five times my size and goes below my knees. I’m short okay! so I’m really careful about wearing shirts that long because then it just looks like I’m wearing a short dress it’s just sad… I also got this makeup kit which I didn’t like either cuz it’s all sparkly and stuff.
I don’t know what was up with them all this year. Maybe they wanted me to ‘bedazzle’ my dress sense a little in preparation for the wedding.
Anywho, So I decided to return these items (and get a smaller shirt in exchange for the maternity sized one). Unfortunately the stores wont take them back or give store credit unless I have the tags or receipts for them. Sephora thankfully took the makeup back without giving me a hassle.
Bur now the purse and shirt are bothering me and I don’t want to give them away to anyone else because they’re gifts yet have no use for them.
Do you guys think it’s appropriate for me to ask them for the receipts or should I just let it go? They were really really excited about the presents and I just feel bad now.
well for the shirt, I would tell the friend about the size issue and she shouldnt mind that
other stuff,not sure
Proto, I can't think of anyone special enough to gift a designer bag to, except my siblings or close friends who all know about the present.
Ahhh. It shall stay in my closet forever I guess. I'm going to see if I can get the shirt altered somehow.
I would NOT be hurt if my friend wanted to go and exchange the shirt for size or maybe get something else she wanted. Its not a big deal...ask and let her know.
"Love the shirt, its a bit big though for me...do you still have the receipt for it?"

Hmm... I'm going to do that then. I hope she kept the receipt for it ia. I just found out about the purse and shirt after the trip to the mall today so I didn't think I'd ever have to ask for it.
I could have sworn Forever 21 didn't have this policy before.
