Yea, just tell your friend about the shirt size. I don't see why she would be upset. As far as the purse don't say anything to the friend about not liking it. I would say keep it and make it work when you can. It doesn't have to be your everyday purse.

Even a gift you don't want will be of some use to you. For example, you can regift it to someone.....which makes life easier for you, donate it, or sell it on Ebay. Just because it's not something you'll be using for yourself, it can still come in handy....so it's still a "gift" in that sense, lol. Asking for the receipt can be tricky and not something to risk your friendships over. Next time, maybe give some subtle hints about what you like. Don't worry about it.

On the contrary, mocking first world problems is akin to telling those with said problems to stfu. Residing in the first world would give the mocker a better assessment of what is and isn’t a problem. Of course, if your “fix” was meant to reaffirm what the Noodle stated (doubt it ) then your edit is perfectly valid. More likely you were trying to mock him and failed.
