Backseat Mod(s)

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Please elaborate.
Give me an example of where a member is NOT allowed to have a sensitive frame of mind.....

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Good to know.
Feel free to come back here if you think of anything else....

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

^ i got your message btw :hehe:

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

and which message is that?

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

This one...the bold bit....... the thread was about backseat mods btw

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Wonderful....glad that I didn't have to explain.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Now once Sara is ready with her explanation.......

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Aw shucks

There’s your example.
If, going by what TLK said, if it’s better to be sensitive than insensitive, then I hardly think members should be told to just ignore what bothers them and they can’t feel that they can give feedback and that we’re acting like kindergartners.

I’ve said it throughout the thread and others agree with me…its not an attack on mods or management at all…

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Sara, that is not what I meant. When I said sensitive, I did not mean defensive. I meant sensitive in terms of owning the responsibilty. You were part of our team, and you know that as much as it seems that I protect my team even when they are wrong, its so far from the truth. In fact our team goes through higher explanations and scrutiny by me than I may ever do with a member.

When the admin team tolerates such anal behavior from me, i feel responsible to speak on their behalf in public forum. That is all the sensitivity I am talking about. I am sure you can vouch that I hardly take any action when someone attacks me personally. But yes, I am sensitive towards any unnecessary criticism thrown at my mods and CMs. I dont like to brag, but for most of the part, our team is one tough crowd and the amount of direct/indirect insults they ignore on almost daily basis, they gain more and more respect in my heart.

Now my reply has nothing to do with Nomi's original post. He did not insult anyone here, He was just asking a a question.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Alright....then I guess that's the end of it..from my end.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

You look good when you blush…wish there were more opportunities to see that.

Let me put it this way…which do you think is a better scenario:

A “sensitive” body that questions their own behaviour in order to correct/better themselves or
An “insensitive” body that tells you to bugger off because they believe that they are always right?

I would believe that a governing body that is “sensitive” and constantly checking to see if the criticism is valid will end up being the most kind to its followers/members.

And to the other comment…
Members were not solely given the direction to “ignore them”
You also have the ability to “deal with it” by reporting the annoying behaviour to the relevant moderator.

now…which others agree that also require an explanation?

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Nice to see GS Management's attitude showing here. Rename the forum to Big Momma's House while you're at it.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Duuude, QFT!

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

If that makes you happy then by all means change the name in your bookmarks.

Keep it up people.....we aren't where we need to be yet......

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

Hey, you don't need to get all threatened. He's just another username, you can make him disappear at whim! You know that too!

If you think we're incorrect in the obvious tone everyone is observing here, do let us know where we're going wrong.

If not, then please, carry on. We're going to sit in our naughty corner and chew on it.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

come to the naughty corner...we have coookiesss...

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

where do you see me getting threatened? yes, you are so right.....I can make a lot of people disappear at whim......and yet you are still here.......

btw....I didn't know that there was a naughty corner in GS......obviously you know of one.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

I had so much to eat and drink. I’m about to burst! But double chocolate chip, and we can talk :chai:

Its the general attitude you know? When any criticism just has to be an attempt to undermine the people who are trying to run this place. I don’t get that? Sometimes its painfully obvious yet the people who should be aware of it are painfully oblivious.

I’m just saying you know?

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

There are several threads in the feedback forum and several PMs and emails that we get that are not perceived as an attempt to undermine. You can read through the section and you will find them. As far as threads like this are concerned, you are not always privy to the “bigger picture” that we can see as Administrators to this site.

We are able to formulate an image/reputation of a member by their participation in various different areas including chat, forum, blogs, comments, pm’s, visitor notes, et al. You are not able to see all that. We also factor in complaints and comments that are received that you do not know of. Often times our responses are tempered by that knowledge.

I don’t know how else you can understand our position and sentiments without actually having walked a mile in our shoes…for 15 years.

Re: Backseat Mod(s)

And now that you guys keep reminding me that I have the ability to carry out my whims I'm thinking it might be a good time to do some housekeeping.......

There are countless examples of where I have been personally attacked.....and there are those that have "liked" those attacks......the greatest part is that the evidence is all here. In the past I have turned the other cheek, laughed it off or just simply ignored it all. Maybe its time for me to have my day. GS is my home.....and its never wise to continue socializing with folks that back stab, is it?
