to avoid anguish on both sides, I think no gifts is the best policy except for those u are very close to, and then spend soem real money and get them something they really like

Gifts are usually for very close relatives/friends. We tend to give money to youngers & take a cake or meethai to their house. Plus it is so difficult & time consuming to select & buy gifts. Last August in Karachi, I saw so much fake stuff, (very hard to distinguish from real), in Forum & Park Towers that next time I will not bother carrying anything at all. My life will be so much lighter!!!:D
