Not really. The words bachi, bacha or bache (as a form of address) have many shades. In the above context, it's just an endearing term like 'baby' in English.

I've actually been asked if I had a "bacha". I was so mortified and mad, because I thought they were asking me if I had impregnated myself and I have some secret child. The person asking was pure raised-in-Pakistan Pakistani. Then I found out later, after I got him in trouble with his family, that he was asking if I had a boyfriend.
Its a pretty disgusting sounding slang word.

I've never heard it used by western born desis but only a few times from FOBs. I was shocked to hear them use this term for girls, when here we're used to terms like 'woman, babe, honey etc'. Must be a freshy thing I guess.

I've never heard bacha...bachi is quite common and i don't think it's rude, but i will admit i was baffled the first time i heard guys saying it...but i quickly understood that it's used as slang, guys only say it when talking/joking around with their close mates...it's just like saying "she's my girl, my baby"...now i've heard guys say it towards a girl they find attractive but don't know also...in which case it wud be like, "check out that girl"...i don't think it sounds perverted, just don't take it so literally...like in the States, i've heard ppl call their significant other "mama" and "daddy"...to me that's weird, but to some it's cool...i guess u always learn something new, and well, slang is slang.

I don't think girls use bacha. I asked some girl in Pak and she gave me a completely different slang word for a guy which I don't remember anymore.
At first I was shocked and surprised but now it is funny.
