Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

Two of my close friends have their due dates in december. They are our family friends. I need gift ideas for the babies, but i dont want to overspend. Anything under $50 each. I would really appreciate ideas and suggestions. As we have mommies in this forum, so they could better tell what did they really need or what kind of gift they really appreciated.
Thankyou in advance :flower1:

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

milk bottle, clothes, baby oil, baby soap, etc

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

do they have baby registries? do you know the genders?

One of my favorite gifts was a personalized blanket. Pottery Barn has some lovely ones.

Little toys that are easily portable but do lots of different things are awesome (especially those that play music).

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

I love giving Royal Daulton Bunnykins piece feedin set–nothing the traditional new born clothes because every other person gives them.

Reed and Barton makes great baby gift that are gender neutral;

Pewter Brush and comb sets are within budget and can be engraved.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

i really loved getting the handprint/footprint kits and a baby book with lots of space for pictures and notes about the new arrival. if you get the hand/foot print kits, get the ones with the clay like thing that can be rolled out and you just press baby's hand or foot into it, as opposed to the paint ones which can be messy. its one of the things you always want to do and have as a keepsake but might not think of getting yourself in all the commotion of having the baby.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

^oh that sounds lovely. I got the baby book in a fct I have three by now but where do I find the hand/foot prints?

Also, dont they do that at the hospital? I was hoping they will give us his first foot and hand print.. no?

Angeleyes: Do they have a a registry? buy something from there. If not, you cant go wrong with the books and toys.. I had some people who didn't buy off the registry but got me the cutest little things that I probably would have never spent money on.. I am not a big fan of toys but I got so many at the baby shower that I have a feeling kids do love them :D

and one of my coworkers gave me this set of her favortie books (she used to run a day care) and man I am in love with all of them,, if you need recommendations do let me know :-)

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

^ i thought they would, but they didn't do it at my hospital. my parents still have mine. was hoping to compare.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

^ yeah, they didn't do that at our hospital either.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

oh good to know.. I should probably check with the hospitald uring our childbirth classes.. if not, what do I need to buy???

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

^ I think you can get whole kits. We never ended up doing it.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

ok that goes in my hospital bag too.. I will check Michael's.. they should have these kits!

You can do it for teh fathers day??? or bari eid gift? or her next birthday? it's never too late!

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

They do it at the hospital too sometimes (did at mine) but that was for their own paperwork. You can give your book or paper for them to do it for you, for your scrapbook. They'll happily do it for you too.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

Oh they did it for us too at the hospital.Infact did it twice (they kinda messed up the first one)...heheh
To the OP,you can get some books or nice toys in that price range.

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

^yes a set of books with texture and stuff for an infant would be nice

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

ok looks like it varies from hospital to hospital.. our child birth classes start on Tuesday that will include the tour of the hospital so I will definitely get that confirmed.. if they dont do it, we will get the kit ourselves and probably give it to the nurses to do it, in case we forget!!

so much to do, so little time!!!!

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

I am loving all the ideas  One is a girl, the second one is a surprise lol. I will have to check for the baby registry though. Keep the ideas coming plz

Re: Baby Gift Ideas Needed!

Where the Wild Things Are has been a favorite of ours.

Oh and Shel Silverstein's poetry! Any poetry and nursery rhymes are good to help children develop a sense of rhythm and meter -- and they're fun!
