Baby boy names

Re: Baby boy names

**achchhaa...i looked up in the urdu dictionary and i did NOT find the word saarib...i searched for both starting with Harf SEEN as well as Harf SUAAD. your cousin named his/her son Saarib then i must be legitimate and with a positive meaning :)

Saarif is a very rare name...it's plural *Saarifeen* is a lil bit less rare. [saarif means spender]**

Re: Baby boy names

Eesa is how i've seen it spelt.

Re: Baby boy names

Eesa as mentioned by SGC but ISA is equally correct. it's because we have NO established roman transliteration scheme. the one i use, i would epell as 'Isaa [but it's too cumbersome for a name!].

Re: Baby boy names

^ isa or isaa might result in people not ponouncing the i as an ee sound. it could become issa with the same iss sound as in miss, or iza as in iMac. depends which part of the world you're in, i guess.

Re: Baby boy names

true...depends where you live...Muslims will pronounce it correctly. in north america, 'S' is mostly pronounced as 'Z' like NaSreen is pronounced as NaZreen. in roman urdu, S with tashdeed has to be written as SS and if u just write Isa it will bhi pronounced as IZA as in IRA [aaiiza]...you can never spell a urdu/arabic/farsi name in roman which will convey the exact pronunciation.
