Bulleh Shah was many things, from a sufi philosopher to a humanist. But most importantly, he was one of the best Punjabi sufi poets of all time. It is ironic that the two best Punjabi poets, him and Waris Shah lived in the same time in thelate 1600s and the early 1700s. The west is now opening up to the ideas and the concepts of humanists and appreciating them, while we had one of the finest humanist back in the 1600s. He was a stalwart of peace, especially with the ongoing strifes between the Sikhs and Muslims of Punjab. Openly denouncing religious orthodoxy, Bulleh Shah searched for answers, primarily seeking God through his own way through his Kafis.
Masjid Dha Day, Mandir Dha Day Dha Day Jo Kujh Disda Par Kissay Da Dil Na Dhawee(n)
*Rub Dilaa(n) Wich Wasda
Translation:
**Tear down the Mosque, tear down the temple
Tear down every thing in sight
But don’t (tear down) break anyone’s heart
Because God lives there
*
He died around 1650 and is buried in Kasaur, Punjab. Read more about this fascinating sufi poet/philosopher/humanist, his literary work and his universal message of peace/tranquility.
Bulley Shah's poetry has layers of wisdom locked in it, in a very crude and open way. You have to be a jogi or a faqeer at heart to appreciate the greatest Punjabi Poet of all times.

gore pia koi hoar

BS:) I ain't going to die
the grave tis for others to lie
Exactly Saagar, I guess I am one of those 'sinners' :)
