Azhar Ali - a good find

I like his calm and waiting for the ball approach. He will be an asset for test crickets in next ten years (unless he goes Misbah way). He looks promising as a successor of MoYo.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

yeah he is a good find for us

but its too early to compare him with Moyo

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

We need get out of 'comparison or compete' mentality like Indians do as soon as a new comer hits a ton.
What I am saying is that out of three middle order slots, it seems we do have atleast one slot filled. After 2Ys will depart we don't have batsmen that can bat all day without playing flashy shots (Umer Akmal for instance). So it seems that we have one less thing to worry for test batting in near future. We need to find more like Azhar to make a Inzi-Moyo-YK like trio. Ofcourse its going to take time for them to prove them to be at par. But it looks like we do have some quality batsmen in domestic circuit.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

One Gutsy player he is.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

We need to keep Azhar out of 50 overs and 20 overs cricket to not screw up his Patience

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

Moyo don't need a successor unless it is meant to send him packing to the salvager prematurely.IMO Moyo can go on for another 3+ yrs

Misbah is a bad comparison as he is not a 'Test' class unless we have lowered our definition for 'Test Standards'

Azhar played well and I watched him ball to ball and on every ball I was placing him under English/Aussie conditions. I was afraid, very Afraid indeed!

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

R u serious Moyo is finished man

look at him he aint fit every now and then he is injured

he should play the WC and just retire

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

^ I don't believe in the "injured" statement doled out by PCB every now and then.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

So what u think then what has happened to him

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

^ Buttism.....

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

MoYo is 36 and Azhar is 25. MoYo can (if fit) play for another 3 years as you said, but eventually someone needs to carry the torch and in current lot we don't have anyone. We tried Malik, Faisal and Umer but we don't see anyone solid to be permenant in middle order. If at 25 Azhar plays alongside 2Ys for sometime, he COULD be the successor. Same for anyone that comes in next year or two showing same or better skills.

Also, Misbah was mentioned for the promise he once showed (in whatever genre) but failed miserably soon after.

Did you take your nap before posting in my thread :p

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

^ Why are you intend in circling around MoYo>Azhar<Moyo^obviously you'r worried about middle stump,,,errrr I mean middle Order so much!
Aren't you forgetting Malik (still on his Honey Moon) gaad this guy takes forever,,,!

Let Azhar prove himself bit more in English/Aussie conditions and we'l talk more like you said he's still young and has time !! Although I ain't so sure bout you :D

Captain ! I 2nd you on PCB injured policy crap,,, I think they'r using this media-repellent-shut up ploy
for quite too often now!
Actually PCB has destroyed his 'Steady' career right after his ICC BOY award in SA. Shameless PCB

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

Well in the BOTW (butt of the the world) reality of Misbah as Captain and Younis back due to FAN pressure and common sense, MoYo was competing with Azhar ali in essence.

So in the truest sense of giving Azhar a chance, given Moyo not showing any spectacular form recently, he has been rested u*nder the sublime guise of "injury". *Which may be entirely true since he is not playing in Quaid E Azam trophy either.

Although myself being the self acclaimed butt nemesis on this forum would want to take this chance to beat up butt again, however, this seems like the real reason.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

maira tu eitamad hee utha gaya hai Pakistani "good finds" per say (specially batsman).

Last good find we did was Yousuf and thats pretty much it.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

What about Younis :hmmm:

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

I thought Yousuf debuted after younus but if I was wrong then yeah, last good find was Younus.

Thing with younus is that he work really hard but he is not “gifted”. Although I’ll include him in my test team but he is not soothing to eyes and music to ears like Yousuf, or Inzi or even Salim Malik.

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

But still i rate younis higher than yousuf coz of his ability to score in 4rth innings of a test match

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

I knew you will :)

thats your choice.....

Re: Azhar Ali - a good find

strokeplay yeah...I agree with you on gifted comment...but from another viewpoint gifted also includes mental ability to bat in heat and score consistently....so YK is equal to MoYo after everything balances out....

MoYo could have been much more if he was more mentally tough and sharper cricket mind like Miandad...and even Inzi had more guts then MoYo....
