Omg please don't post wikipedia information. For all we know, a DO doctor made that posting. You know anyone can write a Wiki posting right? It's really not credible.
I will ask you after 10 years which top universities are offering DO...we can compare notes...mark my word....none of these schools will ever offer a DO program. They will think it's beneath them.
And we have DO schools in Canada and they are not recognized by the Canadian government. They are not recognized by any government in the world except for the US coz the DO lobby is very strong there. DO's do NOT have the same opportunities as MD's. They never will....and if they are exactly like the MD doctors why was there a need to offer a DIFFERENT designation and make their schools different? Tell me if you know of ANY DO surgeons at one of the top universities in the US. In fact let me know if you know of ANY top DO in any specialty at the top research univerisites or hospitals.
And Carribbean med schools are a joke...you can just pay them the money and they'll get you the degree. There were so many people in my class who went to the Carribbean and I was well aware of their work ethic. They never studied, always partied and are now doing some residency in some small town in the US...yeah I doubt they will make competent doctors. But I know some amazing doctors from Pakistan. They are really good and are excellent physicians.
