I was discussing wth my father n v both were so sad he is retired army officer n he was telling me how impossible the whole situation is but only Allah can help us n only miracle can save them otherwise it's merly impossible :(

**SIACHEN: According to statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, in order to further aid the search and rescue operation, ground penetrating radars (GPR) along with experts have been sent to Gayari.**The Norwegian rescue team has carried out a survey of the area and is currently preparing a map for guidance.
Meanwhile the search operation was in progress at all sites, involving 495 persons, including 83 civilians along with 29 heavy machines (dumpers, bulldozers, excavators etc).
Half a dozen tattered yellow flags poke from a huge boulder-strewn expanse of gravel and ice. They mark where the buildings of Gayari army base once stood.
There is no question the task the rescuers face is overwhelming – no visible trace remains of the base, which stood on the site since 1988 and was regarded as a very low avalanche risk.
It is as if the desolate, saw-tooth peaks that loom dizzyingly over Gayari tired of their human tenants and with a single terrifying sweep returned the site to the barren grey-brown monochrome of the rest of the valley.
Gayari sits just below the Siachen Glacier, known as the “world’s highest battlefield”, where Pakistani and Indian troops have faced off in unimaginably harsh conditions since the 1980s.

DAY 14:the weather continued to be ruthless in Siachen with temperatures dropping further due to overcast conditions and icy winds. Despite the adverse weather conditions, pace of rescue work remained unaffected.The excavation work was being expanded with the help of men and ‘material’, with a probing search carried out at three spots.
Some life jackets, pieces of an igloo and medicines have been found at the site. They were found 600 meters from what rescuers believe was the original location of the soldiers. The items recovered showed the magnitude of destruction and nature of the avalanche.

Sorry to ask this but they must be looking for dead bodies at this point, right ?
How long are they planning to continue the search and rescue (?) effort considering the magnitude of the avalanche and the little progress made ?

I think they will continue the efforts until they find jawans, their morale or motivation hasnt been affected, rescue operation has been speeded up, because there is fear of more snow slides, due to harsh weather, search operation is happening at all sites, they were focusing on five points and so far they've managed to complete tunnel access from those five points. lets just keep your fingers crossed and pray for a miracle.

The latest reported yesterday was that rescuers have actually dug down to a depth parallel to the location of the base. Now they have begun digging sideways towards the base. So technically, the hardest part is over. We are all praying for miracles, however, one way or the other, these soldiers are going to jannah inshallah.

good to hear that hardest part is over ....but i cant even imagine what their families must be going through right now ... its 21st day today! ... who had imgined it would take so many these days ...

they can spend hours reporting on Sharifs/Gilani/Rehman ... cant provide latest updates on Siachen rescue efforts??
