Okay....so now we need someone to explain why the fielders are "configured" as such. Pardon my terminology...I've been reviewing technical specs today.....
Is it Aus vs WI..? The color of the kit suggests it is Zimbabwe, but maybe it was WI.
Anyway, what do u call it... 5 slips, 3 gulley's and 1 point?

the fielders muzna baji that are standing AFTER the wicket keeper(dudes with gloves in pics), are called to be on position called “SLIPS” .. (cuz ball SLIPS from batsman and goes in the SLIP position near the KEEPING position of wicket-keeper)..
pics have ONE bowler, ONE wicketkeeper and NINE SLIPPERs.. (no punn intendid

Defensive field.... confused!?!?!
I would say this is the most aggresive field placing, and it will only happen if the batsman is really really struggling. And is having a hard time connecting to the ball. Anytime he missed, its either bowled, LBW or caught. :)

According to my friend, this match was played in 1998 in Pepsi Triangular Cup (Aus, Zim, Ind) in India and she thinks tht this field setups probably called the Slip field or 10 in the slip. So if this pic is really frm tht tournament, then this match was either played at Sardar Patel (Gujarat) Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad OR at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

I'm guessing it's from the 1999 ICC Knockout Tournamnet in Kenya. Although this field setting is extremely rare for ODI's.
Prisine, I think you're right, it could be Zimbabwe. The non-striker looks like Guy Whittal and the striker could be Mupelo Mbangwa (which further justifies the field setting considering he's your typical number 11 bat).
well the team in the red is Zimbabwe, n the batsman is Olanga, well the fielders are in Slip position,all the 9 players, n it was the first time it happened in ODI
the funny thing was Henry Olanga got an inside edge on the leg side and no one was willing to get the ball, after sometime a fielder runs frm the position n gets it!

hmm,, sadiaa ji by that he meant first time in one day internationals (ODIs)...
and yeah i also think its zimbabwe not west indies,,, their colour is kinda maroon burgundy... plus,, the guy at the non striker's end is white.
and yeah this happened pretty recently,,,,
so i,d go with 1999 ... cos i,ve definitely seen this field placing in the newspapers and on the news on tv too.... so yeah it must b frm 1999.

Any ways, I appreciate all the information.
What the hell is going on here man ? I cant even imagine playing cricket without any fielders on the boundary line. Esp. todays ODI when all the batsman just want to get the ball flying across the boundary. Unless the batsman is a tailender, I wouldnt want my team to field like that. I am playing against the indians next week. Not with my team cuz they all are studying for their exams, and their captain nonetheless will carry the bat Inshallah
