I think BCCI is going too far. On the one hand while I am happy that Indians are beginning to claim the rightful place in the cricket food chain, this does not seem like the right instance or stance.
They can say it as an advise to CA and ICC but saying it as a warning and talk of dire consequences is uncalled for and counter-productive. All it says is that our officials in BCCI are immature and do not know how to handle the power.
The BCCI top-brass is full of nincompoops who are intoxicated with their easy-gotten wealth. These laloos cannot even string two coherent sentences together, what to talk about making a sensible statement…Cricket Australia is a much more professional setup than this gang of Baniyaas and Netaas can ever expect to be. CA cares for the safety of their players unlike the pimps in the BCCI who let out their Cricketers to whoever shows them the money.
These bums should concentrate on improving the Cricket infrastructure in India with their pile of money (stadium, pitches, training facilities and such), not indulge in brinkmanship on every chance they get.
On a related note , sample these splendid answers by Niranjan Shah - a BCCI biggie — from an excerpt of a recent interview - and tell me if he comes across as anything other than a bumbling idiot :
Why is this rotation policy not applicable to test cricket?
**Niranjan Shah: **Why look at tests, there are domestic tournaments like Ranji Trophy. One day cricket requires a lot of energy, so fielding capability has to be seen, everything has to be seen. But the tests are a real test for cricket players. The tests are very important for every country. We like to be a test winning country and not a one-day winning country. Youngsters need lot of cricketing abilities to stay there for five days. In ODI you may just go in and slog couple of overs, here you have to play for five days. After all, they get to play the long form of cricket in domestic cricket
Reminds me of this famous answer by Miss South Carolina :
Well, today is a new day. Elections were relatively peaceful. Yes, about 20+ people gave up their lives in the run-up to the elections, but compared to dire predictions of violence, these will be deemed very peaceful elections. If the situation remains stable in days and weeks to come, no bomb blasts, no suicide attacks, no moronic behavior by joyous or upset supporters of any political party, then, obviously, PCB will be in a much stronger postion to say to Cricket Australia, "guys come on over, its all good". I am very hopeful now.
Pakistan has become a haven for terrorists, jihadists,
All thanks to Pakistanis who are too dumb and stupid to realize that their support is the root cause for this cancer to exist
Hopefully Australia boycotting Pakistan will serve as a wake up call for Pakistanis to get tough on these Taliban Nazis who are leading this country to utter destruction in a similar way that Nazis led Germany to utter Destruction in World War II
Lawson seems happy with the security arrangements in place and disagrees with Australian players on cancellation of the tour. He even thinks that some of them are opting out of the tour to grab some of the IPL cash on offer! Whether Lawson would have said the same if he had not been the coach of Pakistan is debatable.
Lawson fears Aussies will scrap Pakistan tour
SYDNEY, March 4: Pakistan’s coach Geoff Lawson says he fears Australia will pull out of their scheduled tour due to start at the end of the month amid safety concerns. Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australian Cricketers’ Association will meet foreign ministry officials in Canberra on Wednesday for the latest information on the security situation in Pakistan following a spate of bombings. CA is expected to send delegates to the nation in mid-March, but Lawson is already braced for a withdrawal. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has also warned Australia that it would take a dim view of any cancellation of the abridged tour, due to start March 29. “The (Pakistan Cricket Board) seems to be pretty negative about (the tour), only because the correspondence they’ve been receiving from Cricket Australia has been negative,” Lawson told The Age from Lahore.
“Pretty much everything they’ve heard from CA has been a hedging of bets in case they decide not to come. “The PCB have been pretty disappointed by the comments. “Everyone here knows there would be no problem with the tour, yet the more likely scenario seems to be that it won’t happen from what we’re hearing.” Australian player Andrew Symonds has repeatedly said he is unlikely to make himself available if the tour went ahead.
Lawson warned that cancelling the tour would have a disastrous effect on Pakistan cricket and create more ill feeling against the Australians. He was particularly concerned that some Australian players were viewing a cancellation as an opportunity to grab some of the cash on offer in the Indian Premier League, which clashes with the tour. “It would be a terrific coincidence,” Lawson said. “You would like to think that wouldn’t be what it was about, but the amounts of money being talked about are massive. “To a certain degree, it’s pretty embarrassing to be over here and hearing some of the stuff being said. “When people here read what (Andrew) Symonds has had to say about touring Pakistan, there is a lot of shaking of the head. There is no knowledge behind those comments whatsoever. Australian players don’t realise how important the game is to other countries. “This decision is far bigger than just the fate of a few matches. “It’s the precedent it would set, it would give everybody an out from coming here because ‘that’s what Australia did’.” Lawson also said the tour would offer average Pakistanis relief from the concerns of their daily lives http://www.dawn.com/2008/03/05/spt1.htm](http://www.dawn.com/2008/03/05/spt1.htm)

This is a gross over simplification of ground realities. Only about 5-10% of Pakistanis hold extremist views. The vast majority are moderates as confirmed by recent elections. Just because 86% dislike the dictator Mush does not mean they support the taliban etc. That is just plain bull sh** and nothing but rhetoric often used by Mush supporters like yourself, Saleem and PCG.
I know this is not a political forum but this jehadi problem only escalated after Mush sent troops into FATA (suicide bombings only started after that), it was the single dumbest thing he ever did despite knowing the well-documented history of the region. Joining the war on terror post 9/11 was not so wrong (he did not have much choice anyway (hint: kursi, American wrath) but he should never have sent troops into this rugged terrain. These people have always been conservative but atleast up until then they were minding their own business. And if the Americans had any credible intelligence about Osama etc., Mush should have asked them to enter FATA from Afghan side and face the music themselves. Why should we have risked our longstanding ties with these people?
I can only see the problem escalating further and infact the situation already seems out of Mush or anyone's control now thanks to his myopic military vision. Such disputes cannot be resolved with force alone. You need a political solution here.
Aitezaz rightly says, " War is too serious a matter to be left to the generals"
Why can't Pakistan tour Australia and then next year, Australia tour Pakistan?
But what is the guarantee that they will tour Pakistan next year? They always come up with this security bull. They are just looking for the slightest excuse to avoid touring. Zimbabwe recently played a series of 5 ODIs and not a single game was disrupted or player hurt even though there were bombs going off in parts of Pakistan.
I wish the Aussies would be honest and truthful for once and give the real reasons for not wanting to tour Pakistan....no night life, no bars/clubs/pubs, no women, no casinos, no streakers etc. 6-8 weeks can seem like a life time in such a boring 'conservative' environment!!

for aussies, both. only pak-team goes to other countries for all of the above listed except to win.
We already know they ain’t coming to Pakistan. They can cut the crap and just say it already.
Besides, suicide bombings are not helping. There’s at least one bombing every2-3 days in Pak.

It's funny you ask that. Our Bongali brothers have not been affected by terrorism of late. There have been no bombings etc. recently. But wait till they become a more formidable team and the Aussies have to tour Bangladesh for 6-8 weeks. Then you will hear all sorts of funny excuses...
I know some Pakistan people never miss a chance and in fact manufacture chances to diss India. In spite of that I'll tell you this. This Aussie natak has gone far enough. I think PCB should just tell them 'don't come, we are not going to play you, you arrogant bunch of cheaters".
