Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Aus knocked out NZ for 150 in 1st innings. In reply, NZ have Aus reeling 81/7 :k:, all batting line up is gone, its only bowlers who are on pitch now.

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

After 8th wicket 50 run partnership, Aus crash to 136 all out.

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Aussies all out for 130 with this mediocre bowling lineup of NZ

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Stumps - Day 2: NZ 139/3 lead by 153 runs

New Zealand's day. They've roared back into this Test with an excellent bowling performance earlier in the day, and came out to bat more determined than they were in the first innings and tried to make amends for their capitulation yesterday. As the sun came out, and the ball began to lose its shine, the pace threat reduced significantly though there was still a fair amount of nip even till the end of the day. Taylor held one end together and Williamson, in particular, helped put New Zealand ahead a few notches with his positive approach. The feature of his knock was his running between the wickets, ensuring the innings never stagnated.
New Zealand will hope the sun stays out tomorrow morning, and will be aiming at a target in excess of 300.

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

The unthinkable happened, Ponting walked today!!

Ponting was rapped on the pads right in front of middle stump by Tim Southee and to the surprise and horror of commentators and fans alike, he started walking even before Southee went up in appeal.

In fact one of the commentators said, “Ricky Ponting gives himself out”

Although it was just so plumb that anyone w’d walk as there are reviews in place

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Thats surprising Ponting was never had a great sportsman spirit

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Another great knock by Punter. I hope he continues this amazing form till ACB insults him and kicks him out.. in the mean while he can damage his career stats. Win win for punter haters :D

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Ponting’s last hundred (209) was against Pakistan at Bellerive Oval, Australia in Jan 2010

In 16 tests since then he is averaging a mere 27.89 with the bat and his career batting average has dipped from 55.68 to 52.44

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

It gives me great pleasure to see Sri Ponting in some discomfort.

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

NZ are just like Pakistan, they can get Australia out cheaply but they will get out cheaply as well. Now they are 178/6 in 2nd inning, lead is only 192. Even if NZ score a lead of 250 Aus will chase it down as they will have enough time for that.

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

NZ all out for 226 in 2nd innings

241 is the target for Australia (they should win)

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

[TABLE="class: commsTable, width: 488"]

2.1

Martin to Hughes, no run, appeal for caught-behind, Reece Young wasn't confident as he dived to his right, LLong didn't give it out, shortish outside leg stump and he tried to glance it down, it scraped the glove, Hot Spot showed a heat signature on the glove, **New Zealand could have won the review had they gone for it, wow

**-----------------------------------------------------------
Hence ICC should allow more reviews per team per innings. 2 reviews is simply not enough. As things stand at present, teams are reluctant to use the reviews (until and unless they are absolutely certain) for fear of wasting them

I think ICC should allow 4-5 reviews per team per test innings (same for ODIs)

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Nz batting sucks

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

NZ won the second test by 7 runs to level the two-test series 1-1

incredible victory by them considering Australia were 122/1 at one stage (target 223). It is not often that you see Australia lose a home test from such a strong position. Their current batting is not so solid having registered below-par totals of 47 and 136 in recent tests against South Africa and New Zealand respectively. Bowling is not more than decent. Hence they are not the same force in tests anymore. India can beat them at home in the forthcoming series

David Warner carried the bat for Australia but his unbeaten hundred (123*) went in vain. Bracewell took 6/40

Ponting’s (16) struggles with the bat continue. He’s averaging just 27.48 in his last 16 tests. The upcoming home tests (4) against India could be his farewell series

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

This was NZ's 1st test win in Australia since 1985

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Incredible win by NZ. Just saw the highlights at work. Brcewell was superb! Exciting test match and aussie commentators sounded so disturbed :hehe:

Aussies are the new collapso kings… NO doubt about that!!!

Re: Aus vs NZ - 2nd Test Match

Australia’s 16th Test defeat since 2008. Only WI and Bangladesh have lost more during this period!!

But **it’s only been a couple of years since their greats have retired and Australia still haven’t been ranked below 4th in tests!!

Australia will rise to the top again but it may take sometime. The talent is very much there.** Current bowling is not bad. Pattinson is a good find for them. Fielding has always been good.

Batting line-up lacks steel, application, and players who can tough it out when the going gets tough. Ponting is a shadow of his former self and he’s damaging his reputation by not quitting

Batting is their main problem right now (as it is for most struggling teams in tests) and once they sort out the 2nd opening position and top order, I reckon they will be a force again in tests [RIGHT]
