Aus V India

Re: Aus V India

very very special!

Re: Aus V India

very well played Laxman. Lucky win for india . Over all they deserve to win

Re: Aus V India

Hauritz got shown up as the weakest link in Australian bowling attack, specially in the second innings. He must be wishing for some Pakistani batsmen to bowl to. North and Watson would also be wishing for the same...

Re: Aus V India

Australian collapse in the 2nd innings and then conceding some runs in the last part of Indian innings...I sense a certain "pattern" there. Could this be a fix?

Re: Aus V India

Thats what Hauritz for u

Pakistani Batting made him like he was unplayable :D

Re: Aus V India

Great win and well-played Laxman. After losing almost half their batting yesterday it looked as though the Aussies might snatch victory today but full marks to Laxman and the tail for denying them and pulling off an amazing win for india.

Congrats to indian guppies. Test cricket is there to stay..

Re: Aus V India

And not surprisingly VVS Laxman averages 55.59 against Australia. He has been one of the most consistent performers against the Aussies during the last decade

Re: Aus V India

Laxman has scored two double centuries against Aussies too

Re: Aus V India

what a great match. I was shocked to read Ponting as captain as never won a test match in India.

Re: Aus V India

great win for India :k: and a great test match indeed.
I wish Pak had someone like Laxman in its middle order to seal the deal in situations such as one India was in… unfortunately, we don’t.

Re: Aus V India

What a game.. WHAT A GAME!!! I had to sleep because of work but I woke up at 4 am RANDOMLY.. I turn on the computer to live streaming and india need 15 runs with 8 wks down.. unbelievable.. just watched the highlights..

What a player Laxman is? Is he the most underrated player of our time? Just because he plays in a side with Sachin Sehwag and Dravid? He has been Australia's nemesis for the longest time now. Even Punter said he was actually worried about Laxman. Guy had a really bad back... but he made 70 odd at almost 100 SR? What a champ.. What a champ !!!!

Great game overall. I still think India were the better team by a bigger margin than the scoreboard suggests.

Given India's trend to start series slow and finish strong I expect us to win this 2-0. Vijay to come in for injured Gambhir. Pujara to come in for Laxman. Mishra for Ojha perhaps.

Zak deserved the MOM. He was absolutely fantastic this game.

I have been in a good mood all day. There is nothing like beating the cocky Australians. They have not won a single test against India since Sydneygate. How about that kangaroos? Ponting has never won a test in India as captian. How about that punter?

Re: Aus V India

Great job by Laxman, congrats to Indian guppies :k:

Re: Aus V India

T20 can never match the thrill of such matches!!!

Re: Aus V India

Two things though. Not sure why they did not have referral system for this short test series

Had referral technology been in place Australia would have won (watch H/L 2nd last clip @ 00:35. replays confirm Ohuja was out LBW with india’s score on 210 which was not given by Billy Bowden)

http://www.cricketonlinetv.com/day-5-india-vs-australia-1st-test-mohali-2010/

I suppose it all evened out in the end because Gambhir was wrongly given out LBW

0.4
Hilfenhaus to Gambhir, OUT, 85.0 mph, Given out lbw! There was a big inside edge. And it hit him outside off. It was a length delivery straightening outside off stump, Gambhir leaned forward to defend and it struck the inside edge and hit his pad. Gambhir is not happy as he walks off.
**G Gambhir lbw b Hilfenhaus 0 (3m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00 **

58.2
Johnson to Ojha, 4 runs, 90.5 mph, Lbw Shout And oh boy what we get .. Four Over throws! That looked out. Billy reckons there was an inside edge. Was there some wood on leather? I am not sure there was anything at all. Oh well … What an insane little game this is! It was a length delivery tailing in on the leg and middle stump, It looked as if it would have hit the leg and middle! Not given out by Billy. The ball rolled to point. Perhaps it was the pressure and the tension of the lbw appeal, Ojha gets outside the crease .. Raina asks him to get back .. he turns, Steve Smith fires the throw and the ball misses the stumps and runs through the vacant covers. No Aussie fielder could back that up. But that throw was on. Had he hit - and he didn’t miss by much - Ojha would have been run out. … And It has been given as an insideedge I can’t confirm or deny that edge. Need a snicko. If you ask me on the basis of evidence given to us so far (a couple of replays, no snicko) there didn’t seem to be any edge.

And not sure why India and Australia are only playing two tests. 2-Test series should be scrapped for good or only reserved for the minnows. And this should esp. not have been the case given the closeness of India-Australia contests during the last decade

Re: Aus V India

^ GA Bhai...you missed Ishant's LBW.....he was clearly NOT OUT also. There would have been no need for Ojha to bat had Ishant not been wrongly adjudged LBW and India would have mostly likely won by 2 wickets.

This is what Cricinfo had to say:
Hilfenhaus to Sharma, OUT, 69.8 mph, Game on a knife's edge now. Last man walks out. That's the wicket Australia was looking for! Ishant's long brave patient vigil is over. It was the lovely slower one, off cutter on the middle and leg line and full in length. Ishant drives but outside the line. The ball lands and turns towards the leg stump. Got to see the replays: It looks as if it would have missed the leg stump. Replays show that that ball would have comfortably missed the leg stump! oh well..
India has traditionally been at the receiving end of poor Umpiring calls when playing Australia....and this test was no different. But then again it was the BCCI that rejected the UDRS.

Australia can blame a number of things, Umpiring is certainly not one of them.

Re: Aus V India

I know. The umpiring was below par in this game.

Laxman's innings reminded me of Inzi's knock against Australia in 1994/95 although india - needing 90 odd to win with only 2 wickets remaining - were in an even more difficult position than Pakistan. So Laxman's innings was very very special

Re: Aus V India

Asif.. this was going to be a 7 ODI series. Aus had already played a 4 test series in India not too long ago. These 2 tests were not part of the FTP. BCCI converted 7 odis to 2 tests and a small ODI series.. cant mke it all 3tests and no ODIs cuz of the financial angle.. so we should be glad we are getting some test cricket.. instead of another senseless 7 odi marathon

Re: Aus V India

well...i guess both teams played well...and yes, i am going to be honest.... I am not particularly happy about the end result!!! LoL…. but hey, what can you do.....

but not I am not going to hold back my appreciation for VV….the guy is simply amzing….he has unbelievable time to play pull shots and that too in a very silky fashion… that is the reason for his success against aussies ….aussies tend to pitch it short and VV is just too good at it…I don’t like his cover drives but pull shots, square cuts, on drives he is just breathtaking….and he has clam nerves under pressure....
