5 years ago Australia wouldve accelerated on Day 4 and set a total for India to chase.. but today's Australia is a wuss..they batted at 2 RPO in the 1st innings.. and Punter doesnt have Warne and Mcgrath anymore.. Wuss team !!!! :D
Yep ...they are Wuss's compared to the old days....no doubt Butt and boys beat them in England with the weak paki batting...
Any good committed side can beat them now on away tests - however they are still formidable when they are playing on home grounds.
No doubt.. I would probably bet on them winning at home vs England...
but otherwise they are no special.... the game is evenly poised.. even with India whos bowling is weaker than their batting anyway is bowling with only 3 frontline bowlers basically.. even with these bowlers if the catches were held Aus was going to be 200-250 all out..
But all that doesnt matter.. interesting 2 days ahead.. if Zak and the spinners can do some magic on day 4 we have a game on our hands... besides a weaker bowling attack Punter also has to be wary of Sehwag while thinking about declaring... it's amazing how Sehwag has just changed the game around.. 350 on the last day to chase is just not good enough anymore..
Girish Govardhan: “The 2 gentlemen who are at the crease now are 35 years of age, have played the same number of Test matches (52, this is their 53rd) and have scored the exact number of runs (3981, before this match)! The strike rates are almost the same as well (49.72 against 48.19 prior to this match)! The similarities are striking(!), however, Huss has a better average!”
Dammit! Did so well to get Aus out for 192... 200 odd shouldve been easy to chase for India's batting line up.. but at 55/4.. it's advantage Kangaroos.. the pitch has been misbehaving lately and it will only be worse on the last day.
What happened to the WALL? this was his perfect chance to show hes still the wall.. stick around and get India close.
It's down to SRT and Dhoni now.
Even if India lose this I would still say they are a better team. They have been playing with basically 3 frontline bowlers.. Ishant has been unavailable 90% of the time.. if it wasnt for so many dropped catches India shudve won by now... 1-2 catches will be dropped.. it's India after all.. not a great fielding side.. but 5-6 was a bit out of the ordinary... add to all this Laxman the OTHER wall has been unavailable.. so 1 bowler short.. 1 batsman short.. playing with basically 9-9.5 players.. and still in the game..
Besides SRT and Dhoni.. Zak and Bhajji will be important tomorrow too. Exciting last day for sure.
Amazing sportsmanship from Laxman, even with a back pain, he stood there between Aus and victory, great innings and good support from the tail enders. I love test matches like this :)
