It is an amazing phenomenon…I dont know if it happens in other countries too but here in the USA…I have met/seen so many Aunties/bajis whatever, that just want to be called by their first name…I’m like Why…Why would they want to do that…To feel young or wat???..Its just back in Pakistan …even when someone was a year older…we used to call em appa or baji…and ofcourse with ami or abu’s friends with kids as old as us…they r called Aunty or an uncle…But here I have heard through friends too that the same people after immigrating here r like…“Uhh my name is ----…call me by my name, Im not THAT old…” wth…its not about that, just Respect…I still cant make myself call previously called aunties by their names…Its so disrespectful…in my eyes…even the goras add Mr or Mrs in front of their names…last name that is!
Why r we forgetting our heritage for the sake of wanting to be forever young…
I make my younger sister’s friends call me baji/appa…even though they have tried calling me by my name…trying the Humberrr bit from the movie..:D…
And yes I’m not saying to call Aunty/baji to your own friends…it depends on wat sorta relationship u have with them…the takaluf/frankness stuff…but then again Aunties…some respect should be there…not the “oyeh Samina” from Samina Khala/Aunty thing…!

ok...that was uncalled for.....u can call me an aunty only if u r under10 yrs old....and baji only if u r under 25...

My friends are 40-42 years old and i have to call them by their names

^^ that is so weird...I have one of my Khala's friend...and she knows I call my Khala Aunty...but last week this friend of hers just told me to call her by her name...well I was like wth...Why???...It wont make her an less older...I guess I just wont call her anything except for Aap!!
