Of course there should be physical attraction. If you are Muslim by the way, Islam also says this.

I'm a firm believer that there has to be some sort of physical attraction between a couple for things to work. Think about it, you have to see that person for the rest of your life.

Speaking from a male perspective: I don't think I would marry someone who I wasn't attracted to. You have to spend your whole life with them and if its a compromise marriage then your whole life you'd think "Maybe I could've done better". And its not just about looks; other factors must also be considered. However, physical appearence is the first test that needs to passed in order to consider other attributes.
