attitudes towards sex

Re: attitudes towards sex

I don’t really know what the right approach is…yet. My 11 year old is now learning about all this stuff. She’s had her “health” class at school a few weeks ago. She brought it up to me and was bothered by the information she received. So we talked. I like to talk to my kids and most importantly hear them out. I don’t like to interrupt them or shut them off. I think listening really helps because you get a sense of their thought process. Now how you choose to respond should be a combination of common sense + your child’s level of maturity.

They need to understand what is real. I’m not one to reveal everything before its time, but I also don’t believe in lying or twisting information. It comes back at you in ugly ways. And most importantly, I always want my children to use me as their first resource because my communication with them will be sincere and appropriate. SO I better do it right…hopefully!
