Terror over at Karachi airport, carnage leaves 23 dead - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

Re: attack on karachi airport

No, I'm not following twitter, so I wasn't aware. Thanks for letting me know. I've just been watching the news or reading about unfolding updates here.

Re: attack on karachi airport

there you go teggy…what else do we want from rangers spokesman?they have declared indian weapons were used

everything that i said above in my posts now remain fully valid…rangers represent Pakistani establishment and they have declared weapons to be indian. ISI spokesman asmi baajwa is also supporting it by staying silent on this topic but tweeting on every other aspect of operation.

Now we Pakistani masses want to know

a) why cant we make a huge international case out of it against india if we have solid proof…why not? at least embarrass them diplomatically

or
b)otherwise and like i said before it is just a smoke to hide your inherent incompetence and help animal talibans

Re: attack on karachi airport

Dr Shahid Masood @Shahidmasooddr · 45mNo Airport of Pakistan can be secured unless we get rid of VVIP Protocols !

Re: attack on karachi airport

Those are all fair points.

But if, and a big IF forces find evidence, then they need to build a case. Would you say to let this one slide for the sake of improvements? I'm not saying derail peace process, but a good relationship after a rocky past would be better founded on Believe but Verify. It's not at all wrong for Pakistan to build its case and ask for answers if there is truth to the news.

I would still ask that we all wait for absolute confirmation, and go based on what Government does with the information. Government will get chewed out by the public if it says wishy washy stuff without presenting the evidence and pursuing it.

The news from India fuming over Russia lifting arms embargo on Pakistan, and then events like this work to derail any hope of improvements in relationship as well. Which is why it's better to either build a case, or punish those spreading hearsay to confuse the public. There are hawks on both sides of the border; it's not an exclusive quality to either one.

Re: attack on karachi airport

that is the problem......there has been the same trend after every such incidence (countless Baluchistan incidences, kamra, naval airbase, GHQ, etc)..here is the pattern

our media will start referring to indian weapons per our security forces briefing...

uneducated masses will be satisfied "ooh shoot bloody indians again...they want to kill us and destabilize pakistan.....these taliban may be nothing but indian agents"

and nothing will happen diplomatically....our govt will be quite but more strangely ISI will not push it either.....the whole issue will die after few days

and who are the biggest winner? taliban animals against whom no consensuses will be developed.

rahay naam mola ka

Re: attack on karachi airport

And if it turns out to be another religious extremist stunt then will you similarly call a spade a spade, and ensure that all madrasahs supporting following this satanic cult are put on hot list as well?

Because we all know that just going after active terrorists is not going to solve the problem, unless the terror den madrasahs are taken out of business. After all, that is where the cult members get their ideological base.

Re: attack on karachi airport

I was saddened to hear the news. I hope Allah(swt) gives sukoon and makes it easier on those who have not only lost loved ones but livelihood due to this. I have friends in Karachi and is the place to visit. My prayers are with all of the people of Karachi and other Pakistanis tonight.

Props to the army for containing trouble and catching the terrorists. Compared to other countries where it takes days for army to act and save lives. Fast action and efficiency by pakistani army is to be commended. 10 of the terrorists were killed and 17 innocent people died.

I don't understand why after so many incidents of terrorism here in subcontinent there is always information that intelligence had insight but they did not act earlier. Why can gov not efficiently act earlier on intelligence and thus save people's lives?

I don't think this will affect people visiting Karachi or business interests in long term. The army and security agencies have been much more efficient than other countries where attacks have happened in airport. Karachi is a resilient city and it will bounce back.

Re: attack on karachi airport

Our media is even more jahil than our society.

I saw footage where an injured soldier was being transported to the hospital. As soon as they opened the door of the ambulance, a bunch of cameramen blocked the door and shoved their cameras into the ambulance. Emergency personnel had to push them out of the way and even then they were shoving the cameras through emergency people’s arms to get a shot of the the injured’s face while he was being transferred to a stretcher.

Re: attack on karachi airport

Which madrassah endorses TTP? No wishy washy response needed. Please name madrassah that specifically advertise "We Support TTP" along with a source showing it. This sort of vital information should be made available to the Government pronto so that they can do something about it instead of allowing us to argue endlessly. Please don't forget to answer my question.

Re: attack on karachi airport

The translation of your post above is simply that no action should be taken against any madrasah since no madrasah clearly and explicitly say something you wish to see.
That is the end of discussion from Religious Affairs section.

Reality is that there was a recent report which specifically mentioned certain madrasah in Islamabad and Rawalpindi that help in extortion and other terrorist activities of that satanic cult. There must be many more known in Karachi doing that.

But there are apologizers of that cult which make it attack on Islam if action is taken against any of them. For example, the lal masjid incident.

I remember Samiul Haq saying recently that he is not with Taliban rather Taliban is with him!

Samiul Haq follows that cult and Is called the father of Taliban. His madrasah in Akorra Khattak is where Mullah Umar took his education.
we can start from there.

Re: attack on karachi airport

If India is involved, why would they use arms traceable to themselves? Specially, Pakistan/Afganistan is swimming with cheap Russian, Chineses, Eastern European and western arms.

I would not be surprised that the terrorists purposely carried "Made in India" arms in order to derail the peace process with India and the usual suspects are the jihadi groups and elements in ISI and army.

Re: attack on karachi airport

I am actually for the Governments (Present and future) to regulate religious seminaries, and bringing them up to par with the best universities so that anyone who graudates from a madrassah is not only well verse in religion but also other areas. It is the government's responsibility to ensure that its' citizens are given the best facilities, especially when it comes to education up to a certain age be it religious or non-religious. I hope for reform which would have lasting effects for generations to come. Supporting reform does not equal siding with the terrorists; don't get it twisted.

Anything is possible at this point. Lets stay tuned to full report of findings after Airport is reopened and clean up/searches have concluded.

Re: attack on karachi airport

latest: 8:40 am Karachi time, Monday June 9

firing started at Karachi Airport...one more terrorist [11th one] has been reported killed

Re: attack on karachi airport

This topic has been discussed upteen times here. Many of the terrorists are coming out of these madrassas or are actively supported by madrassas.

Re: attack on karachi airport

Okay, then the Government should stop allowing foreign funding, and provide its’ own funding along with rules and regulations so that the curriculum is set with a Board of Educators overseeing it. Risk being that it would become politicized given the reputation of political parties in Pakistan.

Re: attack on karachi airport

now, Dunya News reports that IG Sindh has announced that there has been no 11th terrorist. a PIA employee was mistaken for a terrorist and as a result he was shot and injured. the forces are trying to clear the remaining areas.

the journalists will be given a tour soon.

Re: attack on karachi airport

Poor guy...wrong place, wrong time. :(

Re: attack on karachi airport

Oh come on you can't be so naive. Reality is that there is no way to control these madrassas/schools & all previous attempts to control, regulate or reform them have failed b/c of resistance from mullahs. Lal masjid is one good example. The burka mullah who controls that masjid is in defacto occupation of state land, but refused to vacate it despite all that happened there. The fact is state is weak. Police and laws enforcement officials are corrupt & ANYTHING can be done in the name of Islam & no one will question.
