UETTA: At least 18 people were killed on Friday, when unidentified motorcycle riders opened fire on an Iran-bound bus near Turbat in Balochistan, DawnNews reported.
**According to government’s official sources, four armed assailants, riding two motorcycles, attacked the bus, killing at least 18 people on the spot. Two others sustained severe injuries and were being shifted to Civil Hospital, sources added.
Attackers successfully fled away from the site.
Sources said that the dead were leaving for Iran to find labour and belonged to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police and other security agencies have cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation.
This route is normally used by Shia pilgrims travelling to and from Iran. Though the ethnicity of those targeted on Friday was not immediately known.
AP adds: Abdul Razzaq, a government official, said eighteen were killed and two people were wounded in Friday’s attack in Turbat.
He said the dead and wounded were Pakistanis trying to travel with the help of smugglers to Europe through Iran. He said officers were still investigating the shooting and provided no further details.
Earlier this month, 15 Shia Muslims belonging to the Hazara community were killed after gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying 50 passengers was travelling from Taftan to Quetta. The banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi had claimed for the attack.

This might be the work of sectarian terrorists who are very active in Balochistan these days. They might have taken the passengers to be Shia Muslims since the bus was bound to Iran.
This particular case seems to be the ethnic killing (as the people killed were punjabis and Pashtuns). An organization called baloch liberation tigers has taken the responsibility for the act. Acts like these would damage their struggle (and image internationally), but the perpetrators again fled like always.
QUETTA: Deputy Commissioner Kech Mohammad Aslam Tareen has been suspended over Turbat incident Saturday, Geo News reported.
According to an official statement, Additional Commissioner Naseerabad Mohammad Fateh Bhangar has been deployed as DC Kech.
It is pertinent to mention that unknown gunmen on Friday killed at least 18 people and injured one in Turbat.
According to interior secretary Balochistan, the incident took place in Khadan area of Turbat where the gunmen attacked passengers in waiting lounge who were to cross Pakistan-Iran border as illegal immigrants so they could later head to Europe via Turkey.
Due to indiscriminate firing, 18 people were killed out of which 13 belonged to Punjab and five to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The local administration shifted the bodies to District Headquarter Hospital, Turbat from where they will be sent to their respective areas.
The secretary told that it has been learned that the waiting lounge had been there for sometime that was used for immigrants seeking to go to Iran illegally. People from Karachi used to be brought via Gwadar from where they were sent to border area close to Iran.
Action would also be taken against the local administration officials who did not take any step despite having knowledge of such an activity in the area, the secretary told.
Chief Minister Balochsitan, Aslam Raisani, after taking a notice of the incident had ordered a thorough probe.
He also ordered a crackdown on those who were involved in all kinds of human smuggling.

I agree. Crushing BLA or other separatist will only bring more disaster. The solution should be political in addition to curbing these merciless killings. Using blind power like in 1971 to crush mukti-bahinins supported by Indira Gandhi led to break up. This situation should be dealt with very cool mind with emphasis on saving innocent lives and bring the situation under control.

And for all those issuing statements about bangladesh model being repeated, Balochs aren't the only ones living in Balochistan. There are other stake holders like settlers, pushtuns, hazaras etc who love Pakistan very much. Even among Balochs, a sizeable majority from the more educated ones simply hate BLA and scum like these.
