Just b/c there is no visible, audible, touchable proof that there is a God, is that proof of God’s absence?
in other words, absence of proof, is not proof of absence? ![]()
btw, are there any atheists here ![]()

Re: Atheists Please Answer
I don't believe atheists exist ...
Re: Atheists Please Answer
I don’t think of myself as an Atheist, because that word can have many different definitions. I would just say that I have a lack of belief. Everyone is born with a lack of belief, but either they choose to follow a religion or they are indoctrinated by their parents into following their own parents’ religion or they just remain having a lack of belief.
Feel free to watch this video for a better explanation:
Lets look at it this way. Suppose 1 million people in this world believe in invisible flying unicorns in space. Do you believe in invisible flying unicorns in space? Most likely not. Well that doesn’t mean that there is no invisible flying unicorn in space because you don’t have 100% proof of it’s absence, right?
Re: Atheists Please Answer
Problem with me is that if God is not there then we all came into existence from nothingness, literally. Big Bang theory claims that universe started from nothingness. Even from atheist point of view, that belief should be crazier than the belief that there is a creator.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
^where did the creator come from?
Re: Atheists Please Answer
^where did the creator come from?
good question.
where did the laws behind principle of uncertainity come from that forms the mathematics of big bang theory? Laws were there even when nothing was there?
Who created the creator and who created the laws of physics, can be argued back and forth and no one can answer.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
Ask my choti and she will tell you "Allah cannot be created. He has not father or mother or children. He doesn't feel hunger. He can see you mama, but you can't see him."
I rather live with being safe than sorry. Let's say I'm really the scientific types, I say what if there really truly is an Allah...why would I want to miss out on that possibility? It's not that hard.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
But the laws were placed and created by the creator. That's how he willed this world to be.

are you on my side or the opposite ![]()
Re: Atheists Please Answer
I DUNNO. you confused me ![]()
I am not questioning the existence of a God, I am just asking where he came from?
Re: Atheists Please Answer
most reasonable atheists will admit they have no clue on a LOT of pretty basic questions. and that religions don’t answer any of these questions either. TLK’s questions are all awesome, but no religious person has answers for them either beyond that of pushing all the uncertainty and unknown bits onto one easy answer - God.
and tlk, big bang doesn’t say universe came out of nothing.
just that we have absolutely no way of saying what was before that event.

i think this is quite fair. there are plenty of reasons why one should/could believe or disbelieve and be at peace with their choice.
it is only a problem when people think because they do so, it makes them better than others. truth is, at least as far as we are alive and live on this planet, belief or disbelief by itself doesn't make anyone better or worse than the other.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
I like that video ... I have no problem with defining atheism as the lacking of belief in God rather than the alternative ... however, at the end of the video I saw things that I disagreed with.
The Creator is termed as preexistent - which means He was first, when there was nothing else He was - or simply He has always been there - so asking what came before God implies that God was not always there, which makes the question false.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
Sounds like the Pascal’s Wager. Scientific type people wouldn’t even ask “what if there truly is a God”, they’d look for evidence. And there are so many Gods. What if someone is worshiping the wrong God? Then the real one can send you to Hell just for worshiping the wrong God. This video explains it best:

In addition to what Unos Posted, rather safe than sorry argument goes against the all knowing God. He/She/It will know that in reality you don't believe just a trickry to be safe!!!
Re: Atheists Please Answer
If God came into existence from nothingness then is it not possible that the whole universe came into existence from nothingness as well? Or if God always existed, isn’t it possible that the universe always existed?
What if there is no such thing as nothingness, and there always was something?
Just some things to ponder about. ![]()

ever think that God can exist without all these religions tying God down and saying "God belongs to only our religion"

i didnt get a chance to watch the video yet, will do later and comment on it, but flying unicorns and God are two different issues. it's always difficult for me to respond to an atheist, b/c most of the time they make total sense or are so totally practical it's hard to win an argument with them,
but you aren't one as you said but still, for me the concept of God is more of an emotional one rather than a practical one. Belief in science and evolution is there but i also need to believe in a God just until science has all the answers to every mystery out there. when i'm in a life threatening situation, which i was in a while back, as a last resort i did think about God....so i can't be an atheist
Re: Atheists Please Answer
Yes I did think that there may be a God without any religion. But what is the definition of God? Where is proof of God Can’t there be multiple Gods as well?
You were telling me that absence of God cannot be proven 100%. Maybe that was a bad example, but my point was that someone can believe that a flying unicorn exists just as much as someone can believe that a God exists however both of these points cannot be disproved 100%.
I understand that feeling, and there is nothing wrong in believing in your concept of God but if you believe in religion then that’s a totally different story. If you get a chance, feel free to watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZpJ7yUPwdU.

I was just giving an example here for people who like to argue about it a lot...like hey, what do you have to lose. Personally, none of us in our family have issues with believing in God. We are quite clear on the reasons why and I've never really tried to convince too many people. I have a friend who brings up this issue every now and then because she and her husband are anti-organized religion. She comes on too strong and I'm not the types to sweat over people's personal belief systems as long as they don't affect my life. So I change the topic.
Re: Atheists Please Answer
Without the opposite, does a thing exist? That is, can there be “somethingness” without there being a corresponding concept of “nothingness” (and vice versa)? If there is no dark, is there light? If there is no evil, can there be good? Can there only be good?
There can only be “God” if there is “Not God”.
