Absence of proof is not proof of absence.
Open up the history books, and you'd find what Muslims have contributed towards each and every useful discipline of life. Now if one would want to turn his face away from those facts, that thats a different story.
Your case is like that of a person whose locked away in a room, ignorant of whats happening outside the room, he begins to think the room is the world.
