Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

perhaps none of you guys have been on ex-muslim forums. forget this particular website or article, just see the number of arabs and iranians on these ex-muslim forums. atheism is definitely growing amongst muslims.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Atheism is growing everywhere, not just among muslims and so are the converts from atheism to religion, be it islam, christianity, buddhism or any other religion.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

^ True that LP. All societies needs to accept this TWO way traffic.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

atheism is the future :snooty:

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

It's only a matter of 60-80 years for a youth, and less for the adults before we all meet the Maker. I do not know how sure the atheists are about what's to come after death; I am certain what awaits is eternal. My only fear is for myself that I end up being grouped with those who rejected the truth from divine and measured the vast unknown against the tiny speckle of what has become known to us all. What's more comical in my view is the fact that some start setting expectation for how God should behave, and act, and run what belong to Him alone. It's rather naive. It should be the other way around.

It further solidifies my belief when I see these things in the light of Hadiths because Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) told in absolute clear terms that coming ages will see such Fitnah as has never been seen before. Some fall prey to it, and some increase in awareness. How will 999 out of 1000 end up in the wrong if a vast majority stayed on the right path. What is destined, will come to pass. What remains to be seen is what will become of us all collectively when each of us is judged.

Imagine even a 1% chance that there exists God, and after death you have to become answerable to the very being that you spent your years leading up to death denying while it was God that provided for you, blessed you with eye sight, hearing, and the facility of speech, and some of us should have the bravery to use all these facilities to do everything except acknowledge the one who brought on these blessings, and to go further and outright ridicule and deny. Be fearful; because if that 1% becomes 100% certain after death, a lot of us would be in the kind of trouble words cannot even describe.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Been to a lot.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

We should be more worried about the tendency of certain regions to label atheism as a crime - punishable by death in a subset of said certain regions.

People should also get their collective heads out of the same and not dismiss this report as topi drama with just one or two cases of atheists.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

First step to get confused is to stop practicing deen.
I strongly believe that it is rule of thumb that if you are practicing Islam, no study can confuse you and no force can make you an atheist.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Yes, b/c educated people are less likely to believe in fairy-tales.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Are educated people, like yourself, also likely to be less sensitive and more inclined to mock?

Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
Surat Al-Mutaffifin [83:29] - The Noble Qur’an - ??? ???

How is it that your continued attitude makes our Book so true … yet, you insist it is fairy-tales …?

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

I believe you brought up the fact that educated people are more inclined to be atheists. There is a simple explanation. Educated people are also inclined to be more information centric, basing their actions on verifiable information. Nothing mocking about that. Just reality.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

LOL! Then our great grand kids will slowly start a New Age movement that will involve becoming religious. Everytime we normalize a behavior, it loses its charm.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Or they go beyond what is considered yo be atheism?

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

This article is talking more about people who are questioning the abuse of religion by the government. Or questioning Wahabbism as the only type of "Islam" out there. Wahabbism is actually not Islam. Any sect that incites killing other muslims or people who dont' agree with you - those people are not practicing Islam. And that's the fundamental basic of Wahabbism. It permits people to kill anyone that doesn't think like it, including shias and other minority groups, and general sunni groups who may not believe in the Wahabbi doctrine.

The fact that Saudis are beginning to see through this shows us that they're realizing their government is a scam.

Their government can call it "atheism", but throwing someone in jail and whipping them in public because they question WAHABBISM, is a frikkin CRIME IN ISLAM. The government is punishing perfectly good muslims.

And since there is no compulsion in religion, you can't really go after someone who chooses to not follow the religion.

Why do people fall for the crap show that the Saudi government is???

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

Call it what you want. From the article, it can be concluded people are leaving religion based on how it is being practiced there. Since system not expected to change there for some time at least expect this trend to accelerate.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

From something as dreadful and tragic as the 9-11 attacks that cast a dark shadow on Islam, it is surprising that so many people converted to Islam, the faith saw an an acceleration of converts whereas many may have expected the opposite.

Re: Atheism explodes in Saudi Arabia

That is the way it is supposed to be. People should be free to choose AND discard a religion as they please. It is not supposed to be a check valve or diode where flow ENCOURAGED in one direction and banned (with penalty of death in some cases) in the other direction.

Let the free market of people's choice decide. And let's stop making religion a numbers competition.
