in the parking lot
Camry, Camry, Camry, Sienna, Accord, Camry, Camry, Camry, Camry, Civic, Corolla, Camry, Odyssey, Taxi, Taxi, Taxi. Multiply this by 20, and that would be an accurate picture of the mosque’s parking lot.
My Camry was in there too. ![]()

hmmm you need to go to a posh masjid wahan par mercedes, bmw, audi, lexus. infiniti, acura aur cadillacs bhi nazar aati hain. but yeah they are still in a minority compared to the sceanrio posted above.
now the question is how many shehzaday arrived late and decided to block others?
Re: At the mosque yesterday I observerd…
We desi love our camry. It lasts for one million miles , it has great resale value , gas ko sirf soonghti hay .
The echelon of society we are that is all we can afford . You want to see more of Mercedes , BMW, Infinity , Lexus, why do those people need to go to Masjid , they got it made already so they do not need to pray anymore.
We The camary crowd has to go to masjid to pray to get that Lexus , BMW etc etc.
Yeah and taxi drivers are very religious peopleaan of the desi lot , leave them alone. ![]()
If my word have any hint of arrogance in them.

This is what our masjid has become. Status symbols abound. But we are guilty of it too.
Re: At the mosque yesterday I observerd.....
dude, that was supposed to be a joke.
and regardless there is no issue of status symbol, obviously people are going to drive to the masjid in the cars that they own..unlessw e mean that just driving one of these cars is onkly done for the sake of a status symbol? :)
Re: At the mosque yesterday I observerd.....

Omg, in our masjid it has absolutely become a status symbol! There is a little roundabout where you can go to drop the elderly and women with children so they don't have to make the trek from the parking lot to the enterance. Over the years the cars have gone from havng names with letters to names with numbers.
On the other hand, the congregation has gotten wealthier and more stable. Most of the people can afford cars like these, so why not? In any case, buying an expensive car, much like buying an expensive bag, or expensive suit, is totally a status symbol. Why drive a Jaguar when a Kia can get you to your destination just as efficiently? For a lot people, it's all about the metal cat on the hood, kwim?
