They have olpers and nestle milk cartons here that should be fine. But the milk cartons (from the US or Pak) taste different so he may not like it. Mine is only occasionally drinking milk. If your is still on the bottle it'll probably be easier to persuade him.
i have been reading this thread since the begining excellent advices ladies
might help me in future IA :@:
PS sahar have a nice and safe journey and other ppl who are travelling with toddlers :)
Jattikhan i stayed in mirpur after shadi in 2010 and u can find alot of western branded food from meega mart and select and save but its more expensive than uk! There is a rahats. Akery in mirpur also where u can get normal bread i was dreading the sweet bread but u can get normal bread and it tastes no different to uk bread! I was surprised with how things in mirpur are so similar to uk!
I didnt have children at the time so cant advise u on lids stuff however i will be travelling end of marxh with my then to be 2month old inshallah! My sister has travvelled alot to there eith her kids and didnt have many problems.... With milk and nappies etc
Also if ur landing in islmabad there is D Watson there they have alot of western branded stuff there i used to always go there andget chocolates because they tasted just like the ones from here and had all the variety!
In mirpur u can also get pasta and sauces i made it many times out there and it tasted normal!
alishat, my daughter and i had the Nestle brand packaged yogurt several times during our time and we were fine Alhamdulillah. I am guessing most of the packaged stuff should be ok, no? Also, she usually drank the regular milk provided by doodh wala but when travelling i gave her olpers/haleeb etc and she liked that fine too.
Also in teh little town that my inlaws live, there were brands avaliable same as here, like Ragu pizza sauce, cereals, chocolates, pringles, etc. so i am guessing most other towns have the same. To be honest, i just avoided outside food for her but anything cooked at home was fine. Alhamdulillah she didn thave a problem this time. We also didnt use bottled or boiled water. We use filtered water from the government water facilities. I was skeptical at first but Alhamdulillah we dindt get sick. We do get sick if we go to Pindi and try drinking the water there so i just either take my own from my inlaws or buy bottled water from there.
Thanks Mizz Khan… my hubz also went in 2010 and said we can get stuff from mega mart too so think we will be okay
we may postpone our trip and go in july instead as my bro is to get married and my parents are thinking to set the date for then
as that is the only time i will be able to go with the kids ( summer holidays from school ) and as im the eldest sis i HAVE to be there

One more thing… what about cheese? my kids love it! can we get the cheese we have here there? and can we get elmlea cream?
good luck to you and alishaht and evryone else who is going and plz fill us in with how it went! may allah keep you and your families safe

Remebere in ur duas everyone as im really scared of labour and delivery im a first time mum!
I have been in Lahore with my 21 mo for 10 days now and Alhumdullilah everything has been great.I brought the tetra pack of milk (shelf stable milk) to last us during our trip and she has been having that.Somehow she has been asking more for milk,as compared to when she was at home.
Rest she has been eating home cooked meals. We went out for a dinner a few times, and I took something for her from home. She had that.
Regarding water, she drinks boiled filtered water. Her bottles are boiled daily and sippy cups get a rinse in boiled water.Rest she uses the regular dishes and utensils (air dried). She loves cucumbers and asks for them a lot but I have not given any raw veggies. The only fruit she enjoys is oranges/kino/musammi.
I have used the local cheese singles in her eggs and her pasta. She likes it fine.
She has been a picky eater ,especially in the first few days when she was adjusting to the jet lag and other changes. But it is fine now.AH.
A few people I visited were not too keen to see me refuse bakery food etc for my child. They thought if their child can have it why can't mine.Same was the case when I was a bit reluctant to take mine to parks etc because it has been pretty cold and windy here.
Allah malik hai but you just need to stay a lil extra careful.
Inshallah hoping that all remains well for the rest of the trip too and a smooth journey back home....:)
which tetra brand are you using chips ? I am confused about milk. Do u boil it before giving it to the kids.
Should we take formula for bigger kids from here ?
saadia. ....I took eight ounce packs from Usa with me,enough to last me twenty days.i just pour one pack in the bottle and warm it for her. I tried toddler formula too but she totally declined it.It was a lot of weight to carry but it has worked great for us...AH.
I am not sure how old your kids are but if they like formula taste I'd say go for it.
so we're flying on monday iA with our 10 month old. first plane ride for all involved.
any ideas/tips/tricks/advice on how to make it as smooth as possible? leg one of our flight is 8 hours and will be mostly overnight (we fly out at 7pm iA). there is a 5 hour stop over in paris, then another 2 hour flight to our destination.
for the onboard bag, i am planning to take lots of diapers, wipes, 3-4 changes of clothes (too much? not enough?), baby food (oatmeal and jarred), formula, thermos of hot water/bottle of cold water, bibs, feeding spoons, 5 bottles (should i take the microwave sterilising bags with me in case we run out of clean bottles and have to wash them on the go? i'm pretty sure the plane has a microwave and so do the lounges at charles de gaulle), a blanket, some toys and books. am i missing anything? sometimes the most basic things are the ones that get left behind.
i'm planning on dressing him in warm pj's for the flight since it gets chilly on the plane. is that ok?
as well, for those who have travelled, where on board do you change the baby's diaper? do the toilets have baby changers? can it be managed by one person?
Planes do t have a microwave but take a couple of sterilizer bags with you for the waiting lounge n such..I used to take the bottles, brush, n detergent (in one of those less than 3oz bottles), rinse it with hot water( that they use for tea) in their back kitchen, wash underregular water n then rinse again under boiling water..the flight attendants used to be amazed tat I spent so much time washing bottles..I also used to ask them regarding the good time for me to be in thar area n they appreciated it.
Take couple of cotton blankets as well to put in bassinet n on seat if you put gabe down.
Change of clothes… 3-4 is good..I had about 8 of them. Used just 3
Ziploc bags n shopping bags..for wet clothes, bibs, anything n everything
I used to change my lil one in the bathroom..they had changing tables there..one thing that I found very useful was a large diaper pad( one of my friends gave me a couple of those hospital changing pads) that way I covered every inch of that changing table before putting baby down..never put that back in the diaper bag n discarded it. It’s disposable anyway but extra large is the key!
Formula.. If possible take those travel packets, pre measured or at least have the container with the pre measured scoops in there..it was very helpful!!!
N I took lots of sanitizing wipes.. You should too.
Johnsons face wipes were great too..I used to freshen him up every now n then especially if the only water available was bathroom water… Pacifier wipes to wipe off toys etc if he drops them. Iwas over prepared. :S
I will add more if I thnk of anything else…
santizier wipes, check.
face wipes, check.
formula- i'm going to keep the box of formula with me and also have 6 feeds pre-measured out for him. you're right- that makes it easier.
diaper pads- those sound great- where can i get those from? i don't think i've seen them in babies r us.
bottle washing bits- genius! see, its the simplest of things and i totally didn't think about packing it. i didn't realise they allowed you to use the kitchen in the back- thats pretty awesome.
will definitely keep some cotton blankets to spread over the seat should we get lucky and have an empty one next to us. he's too big for the bassinet.
can any of the UK ladies please tell me if Tesco sells Enfapro formula?
I took them both times I traveled, and they were a great thing.I used to wipe off any changing surface with disinfecting wipes, and then put one disposable pad on it and then discard it after use, almost always.
Rest Gtg has pretty much summed up everything. One thing I forgot this time was to pack enough stuff for the on-board bag for the return journey..:smack:.Like I had smaller packs of diaper wipes and sanitizing wipes and these pads etc in the on-board bag but I forgot to pack one of each in a luggage for the flight back home. But still,we did fine…!
I am a little over obsessed, and iA let’s hope you wont need it,I packed some infant medicines too..like tylenol/advil,the extra strength diaper rash cream,a couple of bandages etc etc
