Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

What is residual life of these drugs ? He might have taken much earlier and not expecting it to come in the results.
I dont believe he will do a second offense purposefully.

Heard the news yesterday about a player's sample testing positive andwas hoping that it won't be Asif.

If I remember correctly PCB did test all contracted players before T20 WC in South Africa last year and Asif tested negative at that time. So something he took between then and IPL.

I thought PCB announced that they would be conducting their own in-house testing on regular basis. What happened to that??? Apparently they didn't test anyone after the pre T20 testing.

As far as Asif is concerned, he should be banned if his sample B also come positive (assuming that he will definitely go for sample B analysis). We don't need him if the idiot wants to destroy his own career.

Talking about sample B, apparently IPL did a big goof up by disclosing Asif' name prematurely and they may face some consequences. The WADA code clearly says that public disclosure of an athelete is not allowed until the full administrative review process which includes sample B analysis is not completed

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

bad news for pak team, was looking forward to watching him ball
if it is proved that he had drugs, then I hope he gets the proper punishment. reason is to send a strong message to everyone.

Well said! M. Asif is known to have come from a poor background (financially speaking). He has seen so much paisa so quick, is ka meter ghoom giya hai. :mudhosh:

you mean now he can afford the expensive stuff:desimunda:

lol you are funny..

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

phitay mun!

Yeah bro, you are right.

Like I stated before I don’t think he will be banned for life. Even if he is given a life ban, he will no doubt appeal, ban will be reduced or the government may get involved to bring him back.

Politians & cricketers in Pakistan can get away with it.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

It looks like IPL/BCCI intentionally disclosed Asif’s name before “B” test so that he can be bailed out on technicality as per WADA’s regulation name of the player can not be disclosed before the completion of administrative process and that includes the testing of sample “B” if requested by player (which Asif has already requested)

"The World Anti-Doping Code Article 7.2 gives the player the right to ask for his ‘B’ sample to be analysed while Article 14.2 says the player’s name can be publicly disclosed “no earlier than the completion of the administrative review described in Articles 7.1 and 7.2”.

This deviation from the WADA regulation can now help Asif win his case in appeal if his medical and legal representative fought his case well,” (Source)](http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ipl/content/current/story/361109.html)

Asif suspended by Pakistan board

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

GOod news :chai:

Good and on Top of it, PCB has restrained its self from providing any logistical and/or financial support for this case. Asif has to spend money to get himself clear. That the very least he should do after his freaking behavior !

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

He should be banned for life.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

We've seen enough of Asif. He should be banned for life if found guilty. For last couple of years Pakistan team has been in controversies. Mostly for these two douche bags Asif and Akhtar. Let's get rid of the bad eggs and move on.

Akhtar must be the happiest man in the world. He gets to play without Asif.

I wonder what happens to Asif’s IPL career? Does he lose that too?

The real ‘man’ these days is Misbah. The guy is so straight, honest and sharmila too. Check out the Nadia Khan interview -

Make him captain and let Shoeb Mallik just be a good batsman that he was before. He can’t handle the pressure.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

^ Yes he is banned from all forms of Cricket. With time on his hands, he can now visit Hakeem sahib 24/7 for regular tarka.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

He is a great bowler. But the amount of embarrassment he has given to PCB and to Pakistan, I think he should be banned for life. That being said, I am sure that in the next tournament, I will get to see the awful performance of Pakistan teams bowling and I will probably want him back in team.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

Life ban should be imposed on the charsi. And people label Shoaib as the villain! In the past two years, Asif has been injured just as much as Shoaib and has probably had hundred times more charas and ganja than Shoaib ever will. Idiot.

Re: Breaking News - Asif CONFIRMED as player with illegal substance in IPL

How can you be a MORON and be a GREAT BOWLER at the same time ?
Doesn't bowling require some level of intelligence.

I have always had a suspicion that many GREAT PLAYERS are NATURALLY GREAT and do not necessarily have any ABOVE AVERAGE INTELLECT about the trade they ply.

KAPIL DEV for example. Ever heard his commentary ?...it is so pedestrian, so lacking in any smart analysis....one wonders how he got his wickets.

RAVI SHASTRI, on the other hand, was a mediocre player at best.....yet, seems so full of insight into the game.

Which brings us to the fact --- GREAT PLAYERS are not necessarily GREAT STUDENTS OF THE GAME and hence should not be automatic candidates for CAPTAINCY or COACHING.
