Well im just curious as to where the obsession with white skin comes from in our culture…
I just got back from Sri Lanka…i tend to like dark or tanned girls…my reasons are purely aesthetic as i didnt approach girls on that basis…just the girls i like tend to be dark…what amused me was one particular girl i met…(she was absolutely stunning)…kept going on about my fair skin colour…not my eyes, lips, my cornrows, my skin colour was my most endearing feature…at least i liked her eyes and thighs…actual features rather than simply colour…not that it bothered me at the time 
Also one of my cousins is dark, very dark…Trust he makes Wesley Snipes look fair skinned…Now to me its not an issue…but my family have all sorts of abuse for him…lol his sister is fair so whenever he walks into the room…she always says ‘mooh doya’…and everyone just laughs…oh well poor Ali
Lol to piss some Pakistani girls off…i sometimes ask if they are Bengali or Sri Lankan…not a line that makes them happy…but trust the Lebanese or Italian line works:)
Along with that me and my boys always catch jokes with that Fair and Lovely advert…i once bought some for this girl i knew who was beautiful but didnt believe it cos she was dark skinned…
OK so advertising such as this helps build on an insecurity but it doesnt create insecurities…for instance men have always been concerned about penis enlargement so now you get some pills advertised everywhere…weight loss pills because women do genuinely get concerned about their weight…advertisors just take advantage of these insecurities and give you phony products…
But im just curious as to where these insecurites come from?..some say its something we have carried from the Hindus and their caste system…Dalits being dark and the lowest caste and Brahmins being fair and of a high caste…others say its because Western people are successful and they are fair skinned…supposedly Zulfiqar Bhutto took much flattery that he was once mistaken for being European and well we know what he and most Pakistanis thought of Bengalis…Some say its because all Indian heroines are fair skinned…well hopefully Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy are changing things…

attitude…I ask this to the fair skinned amongst you who discriminate or dont and those who are dark skinned and insecure…why?..if we dont get anywhere not all is lost…it just leaves me with a lot of dark skinned gals to choose from

Fat and white was “in”… in America, 100+ yrs agol. The rich, upper class people tended to do indoor work, so they were fair-skinned and plus they could afford food, so they were “fat” (though the image of “fat” has changed throughout the yrs). Blue collar workers who did outdoor wrk were darker skinned and were thin… Now it’s the exact opposite. Thin and dark is in, it shows u take time and money to keep urself in shape and take vacations where you get tans etc…
Skin color and facial structure do not make a handsome, attractive person. Those are things you cannot change, and it would be unfair to ask em to. To me attraction/beauty is ni personality, attitude etc, clothing, hairstyle comes in second In fact… the one i liked 
is very very dark skinned

Sara, being the darkie of my family I have received many a not-so-subtle hint about the colour of my skin, not that my parents ever made an issue out of it. And one guy actually told me that the colour of my skin was an issue, and he was looking for a girl who’s complexion matched his

I think both dark girls and dark guys are gorgeous.
I tend to find anything from slightly tanned to a nice dark brown equally scrumptious but I’m not too keen on death pale white or ebony black, most Desi people are well within the sexyskincolor zone, there will be some instances where I find really white skin or really dark skin attractive but not very often, I’m not racist it’s just not my cup of tea.
I don’t know why Punjabi people look down on Bengalis because most of the time their skin colour is very similar, I know there’s a few Punjabis who are really light skinned but they’re a minority, on average during summer when I see Punjabis in town I can’t differentiate between them and Bengalis or Gujaratis, everyone from the north of the Subcontinent is somewhat similar.
I think our peoples thinking is pretty screwed but thankfully it’s changing, to me skin colour is largely irrelevant, it’s the facial features that determine whether somebody is ugly or beautiful and you get both ugly and beautiful in equal quantities amongst every race, of course the features are always different but beautiful in their own ways.
This retarded thinking that "white skin covers a thousand uglinesses" is very FOB, freshies will see two people one with absoloutley gorgeous features and saanwli skin and another person with bland features yet because the latter have light eyes and light skin they'll think them more beautifull, that's so...

It is always about the confidence…you can have a white skin boy with blue eyes who is 5’3. Are you going to marry him girls?
People have issues with complexion, height and weight. If you have confidence within yourself, you’ll look beautiful. I know many African-American girls that go ga ga on my hair. I keep telling them we Pakistanis have like that kind of hair every where. Some white girls like the tan look they go for tan guys. The reason might be that in western world you have so many white people that a tan guy, girl looks really unique and beautiful. Also, when you have blue or hazel eyes with blonde hair it just looks perfect. Most of the South Asians have black hair and eyes that is why a balck or dark complexion might not do it and most of the people in South Asia are dark skin so the “Gora, gori” gets all the compliment. I am not against people who use products to enhance their complexion because if it gives you confidence go for it. You’ll feel better…

a majority of pakistanis are crazy about white skin...but thats becuz its something they dont have and its ok to want that...its just that it is a bit stupid to abuse someone becuz they r dark...and it is stupid to judge people based on it....
i have medium skin tone but i used to want to have really white skin when i was young becuz some of my cousins and family members were really fair. also becuz i was playing lotsa sports i usually had a tan and they made fun of me constantly that started getting to me. then one of my twisted cousins....who was also insecure abt her skin color...made me use "tibet snow" and i got hooked even though it smelled like sh*t and made my face look like a different color than the rest of my body lolz.
when i moved to a different culture(USA) i rediscovered my skintone and eventually gave up the disgusting cream.....on a side note i wanna add that as soon as i stopped using that cream my face broke out into pimples....i struggled with acne for six months! and then finally my skin cleared up after facials, good eating habits and exercise.

That's not right true.
In some cases yeah you might have a point that anything uncommon is perceived as beautiful but that's not always the case because not many White people find Desi's attractive even though we're different and Desi's don't usually find Black or Yellow people attractive despite them being exotic to us.

I meant it as a compliment, there are many many Bengalis who have an olive complexion like yourself.
I have a thing for Bengali and Gujurati women, Allah Mian really pushed the boat out on them, beautiful, especially when they're all done up at Eid or Diwali.

i agree that differences can be exotic but not to asian people in general...trust in england you will never see a pakistani girl with a sri lankan,black or bengali boy but you may see her with an arab and if shes 'lucky' and iranian guy...asian people only appreciate certain exotics...similarly i remember getting some comments for a half arab half black girl i used to meet...pakis are impressed though when you get an Italian, Greek or Arab girl though...Like half arab/black is more exotic than a standard blonde english gal but Pakis tend to like them fair...even if a paki finds a dark girl/boy attractive i dont get the impression that it is socially acceptable to like them...
