Reuters - India will rest all rounder Irfan Pathan for their opening Asia Cup match against Hong Kong to allow him to recover from a side strain before the game against Pakistan on Thursday.
India coach Gary Kirsten said his team were not taking Wednesday’s opener against Hong Kong lightly.
“We will take every opposition seriously, we will play proper cricket and will do the things that we need to do,” he told reporters. “I want the guys to be focused on games and am looking forward to some big contribution from them.”

Jayasuriya is an amazing player. He made his one-day debut some 19 years ago in 1989 - the same year Sachin Tendulkar arrived on the world cricket scene - and is still going strong. He has lost none of his hitting skills despite his age, he still cuts and pulls with awesome power. Jayasuriya turns 39 in 5 day’s time on June 30! Today’s game is his 412th! Only Tendulkar (417) has played more games than him.

Aged 38, Jayasuriya scored 467 runs during the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies and was the oldest player in the World Twenty20 that followed in South Africa. People normally retire from one-dayers first and then test cricket. In Jayasuriya’s case it is the exact opposite. He retired from test cricket last year after the first test against England at Kandy stroking 78 in his final test innings.
Jayasuria is one hell of a player. Even at this age he is going strong. At this age people become injury prone and lose their touch. Look at Tendulkar. Jayasuria on the other hand is still athletic and he rarely miss an ODI because of an injury. Hats off to him. :biggthumb
