what a 6 by pieterson of lee
england 140-5
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
What the heck why did Ponting change the bowling it was so much fun watching Lee vs Pieterson. Oh well time for Gillespie to get some thrashing.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Here we go, 4
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
I cant understand why selectors dropped Thorpe who is/was a good player of spin and picked Ian bell instead who looked all at sea against Warne.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
ECB should be hoping that thorpe would reconsider his decision although it is highly unlikely. It is evident that england would be missing his services during the Ashes and they can blame no one but themselves for that.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Pietersen was floored by Lee full-toss which would have broken middle stump in two pieces, but Rudy Koertzen didn't give LBW,oh well. Otherwise England may have been in a bigger sh**.would be interesting to see what the big-mouth poms have to say now.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Eng had a big score to chase (420), they got a descent start but if their openers were able to provide them a good start from 350 then it was their match. Any way soe English players need to be dropped too like their Captain.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
kyon mazak karta hay yar:D
You actually thought that they would chase a target of 420 runs against the aussie lineup??? Even a mediocre bowling lineup can win a match for their team by defending such a big total in the final innings.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
^ it was same statement with no wicket lost.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Surprise Surprise. Highest fourth innings chase IS against this mighty aussie line up by a mediocre WI batting. So It is do-able but English batting has quite visible chinks which aussie exploit.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Yes. He is safer bet than Ian Bell who scored 150 against BD and selectors thought they can afford to drop Thorpe. IMO they should play him alongside Flintoff and Pieterson as it gives the line up a look of stability.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
.
Nothing is impossible but there are somethings which we dont see very often like a successful chase of a big total in final innings or BD beating aussies:D .
There is a reason that even mediocre sides can defend big totals in final innings. This is evident from the fact that the teams can score 400+ runs in the first innings easily but only 2 times different teams have gone beyond 400 in the second innings in the last 26 years of test cricket and one of the occasion was the example which you gave us.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Weather delays Australia charge
Steady rain has delayed Australia’s press for victory on the fourth day at Lord’s and with a poor forecast the prospects of play are not promising. With five wickets left for Australia to take, and a possible two days left in the match, even the most optimistic England fan will be doubting their side’s chances. This Test has moved at such a pace that the Australians won’t be too worried about the weather just yet.
