Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Its still too early to say that this match is heading towards a draw…unless Pietersen hits a double-century…but then he has to hit and hit and hit only in a ferocious mode…regarldless of falling of the wickets on the other side…he palys some 120 more balls for his double ton…voila… :k: …hmmmmmmm

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Yes, Pieterson is a big hope for Eng. if he can deliver, even after pieterson, Aus have to do a bit of work. It is still nobody's game. Aus are just in a much better position at the moment, but English big guns can still fire. They just have lost insignificant wickets of Vaughan, Bell and Flintoff, who must be left out for the next game based on their performance with bat in this match.

Rain, rain and rain, Warne will be glad.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Mattch resumed after tea and Mcgrath already struch twice. Geraint Jones playign a stupid shot and Giles in slips.

England 158-7. Only rain can save them now.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Rain again.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

England 1 wkt away from defeat

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Finish.... Australia Won The Test

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

England 180 all out.

First blood to Australia.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Aus win by 239 runs. It was an even contest till Piterson dropped Micheal Clarke and Aussiestoo control since then.

Awesome performance by Mcgratha nd warne, both are English nemesis since last decade.

Hoping for a better performance by English top order.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

whos the MOM? McGrath?

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Muaaaaaaaaah hahahahahah

Aussies own Ashes. An amazing performance from McGrath. He got his 500th Test wicket in this test match.

Now, I expect Justin Langer to score double century in coming test games..woohoo.

Graveney denies closing door on Thorpe

Thorpe: ‘No going back’

Graham Thorpe has reaffirmed his decision to retire from international cricket, insisting that there will be “no going back, under any cicumstances,” writing for the Mail on Sunday today.
Thorpe’s announcement to retire came on Friday. “My partner is having a baby in the next couple of weeks and I have decided that I want to concentrate on my family life,” he said. Thorpe suggested the decision to retire had been made easier for him by David Graveney, England’s chairman of selectors:

“In the end, it was as much what Graveney didn’t say as what he did that settled it for me,” he said. “He didn’t say, ‘You’re next in line, so please continue to make yourself available’. And he didn’t say, ‘It’s all over’, but, as a player, you get vibes about what the selectors are thinking.”

Graveney, speaking to reporters on Sunday, at Lord’s, denied the implication that the selectors had closed the door on Thorpe: “When I informed him he wasn’t playing…I did suggest on behalf of the selectors that, if at all possible, we could keep a door open until the end of the summer because we are not sure what might happen between now and September.”

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

Agreed.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords

England's batting line up just doesn't do it for me. Who the hell is Ian Bell? Some kid who scored runs against bachay shouldn't have been picked for the Ashes. England made a big mistake in not picking Thorpe. England's bowling has improved, but the batting is still a big question mark.
