Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
With 3 days still left, any thing near 350 (lead), will be easy for England. (Personal opinion)

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Doesn't matter if there are 2 days or 3. Its always about the target in the final innings. Anything above 350 will be very difficult for england to chase.

Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
So lets say Australia gives 385 target by lunch tomorrow or maybe earyl morning tomorrow in that case what would England do? Go for the win or try to save the match?
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
England can go saving the match and they can win it, even at 375, as provided with a bowling attack as good as Australians do have.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Bowled em what a ball.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
What if Pietersen makes a double century...hahahhah...hmmmmm
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
in 50 balls or less?
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Warnie gone match on.
279/7 and the lead 314 at the end of the 3rd day.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
There is no possibility of a draw now until and unless the weather intervenes.
England probably will come to bat tomorrow with almost 2 and half days to go. No matter how slow the batsmen will play, even with an intention to draw, 2 and half days are good enough to score 400 runs or whatever the target australia give them. So no possibility of a draw by batting the whole time. Either they will chase it which we all know is a daunting task in the final innings or more likely possibility is that australia will bowl them out between the lunch and the tea session of the 4th day which by the way was my prediction yesterday:D
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
It was a rather 'normal' day of test cricket with 10 wickets falling and plenty of runs scored. Great performances by Australia and they have shown why thie test team is quite a class apart but these late wickets have given England a ray of hope. 350 will be VERY tough a target in fourth innings against Australia anywhere but on this wicket, forget about it.
Anyways lets see.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
^ wishful thinking :p
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Australia all out. England starts chase of 420.
Big targets like this either cause a team to go all out too early or they are achieved. Lee and Pieterson might be the men to keep eyes on, even if they fail to deliver..(P.O.)
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
England: 22-0 (398 behind)
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Excellent umpiring by Aleem Daar.
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
England 65-0 at tea. need to break the world record to win. Wicket has definately eased out but Warne’s two overs were quite eventful. That Gillespie is such a glue to the wicket ![]()
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Not as excellent as Australian Umpires were towards Saqlain Mushtaq.:)
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
Simon Jones is the unluckiest player in this match. FIVE catches dropped off his bowling and all by accomplished fielders like Pieterson and Flintoff
Re: Ashes 1st Test - Lords
England: 70-0 (350 behind)
If this partnership can provide England with (at least) their average(56), England will win easily, I guess.
