Re: Ash And Abhi'z wedding =)
I think Ash looks quite nice....Personally for me way too much jewellery for my liking but she stuck to her traditional roots and went for the whole South Indian look. She looks sweet in her Mehndi pic. .
i think she looks very beautiful too. i like the fact that she stuck to a traditional look.

Re: Ash And Abhi'z wedding =)
Mrs Saieen, when we say hindu wedding we have to take into account diff communities like say bengali, tamil, telugu, punjabi, sindhi and so many others and they are all diff clothes and rituals wise.. Rukshati is mainly bidaai and valima i think is reception!! if it is then we have them both in all types of hindu wedding.. We have a pandit who reads the vedas and stuff like that and we do saat pheras and exchange garlands.. But in some south weddings we don't do saat pheras..
The scenario is like this the bride and groom sit next to each other in front of fire and opp to them is the pandit.. He will describe each veda and sholkas as to what it means regarding marriage and children and we have to repeat them. Then exhange garlands do saat pheras, throw rice(this happens in western weddings it was replaced by flowers), finally the hubby ties the mangalsutra everybody throw flowers and rice on them.. Then we have to serach for the ring in the pot who ever get's it first is supposed to dominate the relationship.. then finally we have to eat our first meal as husband and wife from the same plate.. i may have missed many things. finally after marriage most married couples go to their family temple or places such as tirupati as ash and sbby did..

A hindu friend of mine told me that mainly Hindu weddings (the mantars and all) are done either early in the morning or late at night and she was like theh process is about 2-3 hours long - she also said that the traditional stuff like you mentioned the reception, finding the ring etc are fun but the mantra reading process is very hmm how should i put it...serious i guess...was she right? is it for some specific community in which they do this or does it apply to all the hindu sects?
Re: Ash And Abhi’z wedding =)
lol…but it seems they did it out of typical hindu superstitiousness.
Re: Ash And Abhi’z wedding =)

Re: Ash And Abhi’z wedding =)

Re: Ash And Abhi’z wedding =)
i hear you buddy…
pehle madhuri, phir raveena, phir karishma ko dil diya… sab daga de gayeee…
aur ab ye aish bhi… ![]()
Re: Ash And Abhi’z wedding =)
every community has different style of wedding… even in the same region in the state it varies a lot.. mantra reading or hawan is the actual wedding. It happens late in the night… during the hawan the bride initially sits on the right side of the groom and pundit chants seven promises one by one that the man has to promise to the bride… after every promise they take one phera…
and after the man has agreed on all than the woman sits on grooms left side. and than sindoor, mangal sutra etc…
actually not all the weddings have 7 pheras…
and the whole thing takes very long… now days pundits have humor so they joke a lot in the process… and you can make a joke on them tooo… to stay awake ![]()
but again i am only talking about the marriges i have been to… others may have different case…
one of my neighbours are sindhi… in their community the rukhsati is done differently. the bride does not leave house thro the gate. she jumps off the wall… just like she is running away…
and her brothers have to help her… i remember being on other side of wall helping her get down from the wall while her other brothers were helping her climb the wall from the other side… and a bus full of people watching us… :halo:
