Hmmm good topic. It can get tricky sometimes because since Art is a vast subject, some can get away with anything and label it as Art but then again, it is left to the person to decide and use his/her judgment as to what is really Art and has components of Art. I think anything and everything can be Art. But then again, not everything is Art.
You know what, are we talking about abstract art?
Thing is if some one like da vinchi him self hold a brush and make some thing abstract painting. That probably would mean some thing to me.
But a guy who can't draw a cow making abstract paintings , I would say he is getting away using abstract as his shield.
Like sadqeen has done so much detailed work even I have seen it on the roof/ceiling of Lahore museum. Him doing some thing which we don't understand , I would think we need to educate our self.
But not for every artist.

That is why I said Art can be a tricky subject sometimes. I would best define it as what a person sees and feels him/herself. For example, Mona Lisa may not impress me whereas I might fall in love with a piece done by my next door neighbor.
But then again, there are so many things within Art that are not normally accepted in a society and may not have too many things to discuss that sometimes it becomes hard for a person to distinguish as to what is Art and what is not.
That is best left to the person I guess. There are things (which I will not mention) may be considered *Art *by some but may not be accepted by majority or minority because it is not accepted in a society and/or goes against the person's values.
