what gadget is bought and then sold for a profit? Don’t they all, like, depreciate in value the second you buy them?

It’s not hard to find the market value of a gadget, so unless he has an actual business where he’s buying these things on a deep discount to resell them for a profit (I gathered from the comments that he’s not a business owner and this is just one product), who in the world would pay more for something that’s used/secondhand?
