In KSA we had aunties who used to live next door they were two wives from one husband.It was fine but they were not that much happy they were fine.One wife had a son and a daughter and another had two daughters.But we never asked them too many questions how they are living.

Yes many people are in polygamous marriages in the middle east. I don't know anyone personally.

friend of mine told me that u find lots of arab marrying more than 1 wife.. its a norm in middle east.

I know an uncle who is married to two women and its really sad. I feel horrible for his first wife. She got married really young to this uncle and had four kids with him. He then moved overseas due to work and tried to take his wife with him. She wanted to go but was kept behind by her inlaws. They said they needed someone to take care of them. So, she stayed behind and he left. While overseas he married another woman and had another family there.

All of his children from the first wife are married now so he considers his responsibility towards his first wife done. He said "tum logon ki shaadiyan hogayi hein...meri zimmidari tumhari maa or tum logon se ab khatam hochuki hai". I dont think thats true but can you imagine what his first wife went through? Completely desserted in her old age by her husband.

Luckily her children are there for her and take care of her now.

I guess in some cultures it works because its accepted but I just cant imagine life like that. You wait for years for the partner Allah swt has in store for you...to share him?

i know one couple. but i only know second wife. i never bring it up but she doesnt seem sad since she knew what she was getting into. seems contented, i wonder about the first wife though.

I know someone and the first wife is never happy, she doesnt have all her rights and her kids dont get a full time daddy.....its unfair!

I'm personally not. I just came to know one of my friends has 2 wives. I never talked to him about it though. I know of a few other people who are married to multiple wives, but I don't know them very well though.

I knew a kurdish couple who were very happy. We would have each other over for dinner often. They had one kid. The guy wanted a second kid and but the wife didn't. She said she was done. One day he told me that they have worked things out about the second child. I asked what he meant and he said his wife is suggesting him to go back to Iraq and marry this widow woman and have a second child with her. He went, married this widow and had a second child. The couple is still together and happy and the guy visits his second wife and child pretty often. I found this very interesting.

I know someone who had two wives and they are living happily every after. In middle east its very normal to have more then one, but in the society of Pakistan people don't like it very much .

in pakistan husbands like it wives dont. Specially first ones.

lol yeah, you'd think they'd be glad to be rid of the guy for half the time lol!

Jokes aside...there are two families on hubby's side who have polygamous marriages. The wives are sad, defeated women. The kids are confused and unhappy. The husbands are struttingly, arrogantly happy. Like roosters. Or apes.
