We know that both the European and U.S. economies have dramatically slowed, in the last couple of years. So does that make you insecure about your investments and are you coming close to losing trust in your government?
We have had many companies go into bankruptcy, but the latest example from today is American Airlines carrier and parents company filing for chapter 11 protection.
Does this hint that we may be coming closer and closer to a second great depression?
For those living in Pakistan, have you seen some changes within the Pak economy since Western economies slowed down?
yes...everything is totally fruited up here........the reasons are two-folds.......the slowing down of global economy........but more of local issues........
I work in Afghanistan. The last thing I scared about is the economy!
you should be. unless you are under the impression the war is about freedom for afghan women. afghan wars are like zits that pops up when there is trouble in the western world - has been the story for the past 150 years.
global economy slows, the fires of war burn brighter. it is the "secret" trick of the winners of WW-II who keep chanting that defense sector drives tech advancement. a big chunk of the US tech innovation and research is currently driven by funding from battlefront needs of the "future". those drones and missiles and IED robots are putting amreekans to work in places like general dynamics, northrup grumann, boeing. this stuff isn't shutting down unless something else shows up and props the gaping hole left by the housing sector bubble collapse. worse, 5-10 yrs down when all these new projects come to fruction, there might have to be wars to have enough buyers for it all. unless the economy is doing well, in which case they'll probably be okay with just selling non-military products at inflated prices to their lackeys in the third world.
I can't imagine if a second great depression were to come what would happen to my family :( I really hope it doesn't happen because what Queer is saying has truth to it. It will only lead to more wars :(

Put it this way. The joke that goes around UN missions is we need more wars because we got mortgages to pay.
Well good post. Am I scared of economic downturn? Yes I am. I have fairly stable job but sometimes i do think that what if i loose my job for whatever reason. What then?. And it is very hard to find job as well in this market. What i think is..that one day..the north american along with euro market will crash one day. We all know it is coming. This is like thunder and cloudyness before big storm.
not really. Rizq Allah mian nay likha hauta hay, you cannot get more and before then what's written in your destiny. But I had always been good with savings and in diversifying my investments. So Insha Allah every thing will be ok.
Well redsugar..i heard lecture about Islam and Monetary system by some Imran Hosien. I found that very fascinating. Basically he explains this whole drama about how possibly we are going to have great depression.
Ahan. And what did you understand from the lecture? I don’t care about the possibility…as many things are possible. I’m curious to know what someone, who is an expert in the economy, has to say. Are we in real danger of going through a second depression?
Then you're not worth your salt. Elmo would be better.
Pfft, It's simple. Western economies are going to crash. Look at the Euro zone. Soon as Europe falls. America will follow soon afterwards. Then you'll see oligopoly powers rise such as BRIC. (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
