A lot of other jobs have 3/4 year post undergraduate training and exams. The books, the exams etc etc and then require lifelong learning to stay on top of things in your field / sector so don’t agree with generalizing.
I don’t want to diminish the exams etc but some people (I would include myself in this) are good at it and excel at them. Just because some of these people who excel at exams choose to be doctors and then continue doing it for another 3/4 years is hardly a qualification in my eyes. Its not like you are doing ground breaking research / phd.
In terms of totals, I would say most of the very best people (in terms of academics or other skills) hardly get attracted to medicine these days. The rewards in finance or law or a lot of other fields can be more financially rewarding (if you are really good) and this attracts a lot of the best people towards those fields.
Agree with other posters and yourself that other things are more important, so the above is all besides the point - just don’t agree with the way you condemned a lot very good fields ![]()
