I don’t know. I haven’t found any that work the same for less cost or have that extra dimension in their colour.
Brand chasing is pretty sad. I don’t know anyone like that offline though. And if I did, I doubt they would be after mid range products like MAC.
Personally I do think when it comes to makeup quality is compromised (not the case for skincare). The higher end products nearly always work better in my own experience. Take for example mascaras.. drug store ones can work great (using one at the mo) but I’ve not come across any that also have the intensity of blackness that you’d get when you can spend £20-£25 on a mascara.
But I’m not saying people can’t look great or pull off great looks with less expensive stuff. They definitely can. I have quite a light hand when it comes to doing my makeup so I like very pigmented products - even if I use a little they show up.
See, it depends on who you are and what your uses are. If I find a great product, I won’t pass it up because it costs less. I will buy more because it costs less.
