I realize higher end brands are worth it in many ways because of what you get.
However, you CAN find lots of lower end products that can **sometimes **replace their more costly counterparts.
Are you a brand snob?

Are you a brand snob?
Re: Are you brand conscious?
I am not. I use what I like.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
^^^ agreed, not brand concious at all...i buy what i like, from wherever i like...if it's a big ticket/designer item i budget/save for it or can usually find something very similiar in a lower price range....SuperTarget, Ross, TJMaxx & H&M are my favorite stomping grounds....lol!!!!
the only real "big ticket"/designer item i have is my chanel bag....pm me for the story on that one...it's a doozy!!!
Re: Are you brand conscious?
Not at all! If I like somethig then I'll buy it, regardless of the brand.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
na uhh
Re: Are you brand conscious?
no
Re: Are you brand conscious?
with time i have realized that branded clothes n shoes last longer, fit better esp branded shoes r more comfortable but obviously its not true with every purchase. however for cosmetics the big brands fool u by either putting ingredients with no science or ingredients that r scientifically proved but they use % lower than recommended thus they r not effective but highly priced. So in cosmetics i chk ingredient list n % used rather than top names..
Re: Are you brand conscious?
^I think Reha is referring to being a brand snob towards makeup. Clothing-wise I am not a designer-only kind of a person and wear what I like.
As for makeup, I’m afraid I am a high-end snob.
I don’t like having a big stash of makeup so whatever I do I get, I end up getting the higher-end version of it and prefer that over the drugstore version. And it’s funny since I wasn’t like this a few months ago, even MAC was considered kinda’ high-end but now I don’t care for brands like MAC, Benefit, Too Faced, Stila, Urban Decay etc. I also hate things in cardboard packaging or cheap plastic-y packaging that a lot of drugstore makeup comes with. I ended up depotting my Wet ‘n’ Wild (one drugstore brand I love and find the quality better than many higher-end stuff) because the plastic packaging was just yuck. So I will make an exception for eyeshadow and lip glosses but lipsticks, blushes, tools I prefer the higher-end version, always. >.<

I like this.
You're right. There are some things in which I totally see why spending the extra dollar might go a long way and therefore save you money in the future.
However, spending a TON of cash on cosmetics or skin care doesn't mean you've got the best...it just means you've got the most expensive.
Expensive does not equal best all the time.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
I'm not brand conscious, but i am quality conscious.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
I am, especially when it comes to skin care, make up and watches.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
For skincare, brand and price really don't matter to me. Most of the stuff I use is natural.
But when it comes to makeup, I think I am. I do have an open mind and will try cheaper products if I hear that they are good but I generally find that the quality is poor.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
I prefer good quality stuff when it comes to makeup but then again I don't need more than 10 beauty items.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
yes for makeup and skin care i am ...

I completely agree with this! With clothing and shoes, in my experience, $ makes a difference. Clothing and shoes made with good quality fabric/materials fit better and last longer. But with Skincare products, most high end stuff is crap in my experience. You're basically shelling out $$ for their "name" and packaging. If someone takes the time to do research on actual ingredients....there are MUCH cheaper, no-name brands out there that will do a great job when it comes to skin.
With make-up, it's a hit and miss. Some drugstore brands are amazing and do a great job. I can undersand spending $$ on foundations and powders since most drugstore brands don't give out samples and it can be hard to find a exact color match. But other things such as blush, eye shadows, mascara etc......I don't see any point in spending large amounts. (Note: I don't consider MAC, Stila, UD etc. "high end". By "high end"....I'm referring to Chanel, Dior, YSL etc).
Re: Are you brand conscious?
You know M…before I started this whole makeup obsession…I though MAC was like the mecca of all makeup. Now I don’t think their eyeshadows are all that at all
In fact, I really regret spending all that money on the UD eyeshadows I initially went out and grabbed.
There was a time when I was using strictly Guerlain skin care. That’s it. I was addicted and it was good stuff too. But I was spending so much it was ridiculous! Now, my skin care is half that price and works so much better. My makeup lasts me ages and ages because I don’t need so much of it.
There definitely IS quality in higher priced names…but I don’t think the drugstore brands are too far behind them nowadays. Every company is upping their game and really trying to appeal to a more educated population who IS willing to spend that extra cash on the good stuff. You just have to look.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
Which do you prefer? I've tried lots of brands and I still think MAC overall has the great shades that apply well.
For example, I just bought some Inglot ones and while I like that they have a large matte variety and the pan shadows are cheap, they just don't have the intensity of MAC and tend to bleed more.
It seems it's just become cool to knock MAC to be 'different' (reading other recent posts). But most people who have been using it before it became mainstream and popular still rate it. MUAs who wouldn't touch their foundations and stuff still have a decent sized collection of MAC eyeshadows in their kit.
Re: Are you brand conscious?
i am but only with my jeans. i will only buy diesel jeans, i will buy one jean a year and i still have jeans that i bought 5 years ago. they cost without sale like $200+ but it would be stupid buy jeans for that much. i buy em around Christmas time at macys for around 60-85 bucks guys seriously they are worth every penny. bought levis before but had to buy 2-3 a year and they only last like 6 months to an year. spend $50 bucks more and buy what lasts
Re: Are you brand conscious?
Nopes. May be in cosmetics yes but not much in other stuff!
Re: Are you brand conscious?
With make up yes, I want good quality stuff on my face.
