Which do you prefer? I’ve tried lots of brands and I still think MAC overall has the great shades that apply well.

For example, I just bought some Inglot ones and while I like that they have a large matte variety and the pan shadows are cheap, they just don’t have the intensity of MAC and tend to bleed more.

It seems it’s just become cool to knock MAC to be ‘different’ (reading other recent posts). But most people who have been using it before it became mainstream and popular still rate it. MUAs who wouldn’t touch their foundations and stuff still have a decent sized collection of MAC eyeshadows in their kit.

I’ve always used MAC powder and still use it. I use MAC’s bases and many other things. Some of MAC’s stuff is just WOW…like their paint pots. But their shadows…you can easily find dupes that are JUST as pigmented for half the cost. In fact, the NYX shadow kit I bought a few weeks ago works SOOOO well if you use Painterly under it. So why not?

And no, I don’t think its becoming cool to knock MAC. I just don’t think chasing brands because everyone else is, is smart. I like shopping wisely. Spend money where you need to but don’t spend it because the box says MAC. No, you’re not compromising on quality or being cheap either. I work in an industry where people put pretty labels on things and inflate the cost by almost 1000% because the industry knows people will pay. And that’s why I think a thousand times before spending $16 on one single eye shadow. I don’t really care how its presented…I care about what’s in the jar.
