Why would Pakistan completely align itself to a govt that fires on its soldiers at the border and itself can fall any day if US is not there to babysit it?

I have seen this reality in some afghan writers who have said that durand line issue needs to be solved on the afghan side once and for all like a 100 year treaty again. To me, the border is settled and there is no 100 year limit that afghans claim there is per the British, but I do agree that a border needs to accepted at the afghan side so it can be patrolled by border agents. You can’t expect it to be the US Canadian border, but more like the mexican US border.
