yes sir..afghnaistan was harboring and protecting osama bin laden and other Al qaedia terrorists with several training camps…and AQ then sent terrorists to conduct 911 in usa which killed 3000 people…and that is why usa attacked afghanistan…but now you will say that USA did 911 itself and it was a drama and that usa wanted to control some oil & gas assets in central asia and counter russia , so it attacked to control afghanistan…
I am not a fan of taliban or wahabbism, but with an afghan state dependent on pakistan economically and the safety valve for trouble is to send refugees to Pakistan, I think that it does invite pakistan's dealings with NGOs in afghanistan.
What do you think would happen to afghan army the moment US steps out of afghanistan? Afghanistan wants cross border control, yet doesn't want fences on the border and actually has shot and killed pakistani troops on the border. you can't dream of having afghanistan up to indus river and then the above factors and not invite Pakistan's interference in afghanistan. I think Vali Nasr makes more logical arguments than Zakaria.
so supporting animals like taliban is a better policy than having good friendly relationship with a democratically elected govt of ashraf ghani who wants to have good relationship with pakistan? \
and even if afghanistan has an anti-pakistan elected govt, does it mean we start unleashing these animals called taliban on afghan people instead of improving relationship with them via foreign policy routes?
no wonder, in every survey over 80 percent of afhghans especially in urban cities hate pakistan...because afghans hate taliban and they see pakistan as sole supporter of taliban....
Yaar, did you have a bad day at work or wife is angry? :D
I don't support Taliban either and you can see that I have railed against imran Khan for that. You never even answered my post. Why does Afghanistan contest Pakistan's border on false premises? Was it Pakistan that didn't recognize Afghanistan in 1947?
My point is that it is easy to rail against Pakistan in America, but logically Afghanistan has to give something in return. Seriously with the current state of afghan forces, Afghanistan itself is a base of Taliban. Aside from zakaria, no other american analysts of any worth are blaming Pakistan for kunduz loss. It doesn't even border Pakistan, so you should tone it down.
As far as ghani, Pakistan helped with negotiations. You can't have border control if Pakistanis army is fired upon at the border. The other part is about afghan Indian trade and do you think it would happen with modi in power?

i absolutely answered your post 200%....you did not answer my post :). i categorically said that our problems with afghanistan like the ones you are listing (border issues, sending refugees to pakistan, insurgency etc) does not mean that we start creating, nurturing and unleashing these animals called taliban on afghan people instead of improving relationship with them via foreign policy routes. every neighbor has problems with each other but to solve those problems, why did Pakistan create taliban in early 90s and unleashed them on afghanistan? i am not sure you agree with that approach or not.
You keep on repeating what Afghanistan did wrong and i understand that. My question is something else though. my question is is our strategy to address those problems via taliban a right strategy or not? and if we are not supporting those afghan taliban, why are they always found in Pakistan. our own press now reporting that mullah omaar died in krachi and his predecessor mullah mansoor has safe haven in quetta..and while osama bin alden was not a taliban, we all knew, where was he found? why? just a coincidence?
anyway, no point of going in circles. thx for your input.
What interest US have? Are there any terrorist camps in Afghanistan who are sending terrorists to US? Is there a pending land dispute between US and Afghanistan?
Lets assume answer to above is Yes! Even US is in Afghanistan with i dont know how many other countries...with its ultimate war machine.. With thousands of Rambos and terminators and what nots...with all this and 13/14 years...what is the end result? Terrorist camps who are being sponsored by India and are attacking Pakistan???
Does Pakistan have right to protect itself??? It is the question!!!
I beleive I am late in replying to u. Most of the arguments already provided by other poster.

And afghanistan had barhamdagh bugti and balach marri living in kabul even if they have taken residence elsewhere recently. I thought afghanistan / US was better?
Why would Pakistan completely align itself to a govt that fires on its soldiers at the border and itself can fall any day if US is not there to babysit it?
Did you get my earlier post now about this ugly geopolitical reality?
I have seen this reality in some afghan writers who have said that durand line issue needs to be solved on the afghan side once and for all like a 100 year treaty again. To me, the border is settled and there is no 100 year limit that afghans claim there is per the British, but I do agree that a border needs to accepted at the afghan side so it can be patrolled by border agents. You can't expect it to be the US Canadian border, but more like the mexican US border.
