The question should have been "Are we MOMINS really superior". not all musalmans will go to heaven but all MOMINS will go to heaven. In quran God doesn't even address musalmans because perhaps people like sulman rushdie call themselves musalmans. God Addresses to Momins or others but not musalmans.
Momins are superior because:
they always tell the truth;they always thank God in every Happiness and sorrow;they are honest;they help others;they fear God;they don't hurt other beings;they are not greedy ;they respect elders; and they abstain from haram things that God has forbidden for them.
compare Momins with christians:
They do things that are haram in THEIR religeon, like alcohal and pork consumptions and adultry etc. they do this because they don't fear God, they even changed their holy book to their liking.
compare Momins with Jews:
They are zalim; they are GREEDY; they changed their holy book too; They don't respect other religons like a MOMIN does.

Also, only reason that Allah has declared Muslims superior is when we follow his orders which he perscribed in QURAN. Our deeds which we do or avoid in the light of quran make us superior, not because Muslims started off in Arab or any other ethnic backgrounds!
