Such as sects which borrow from both Sunni and Shia? If so, what are they and where are they prominent?
Re: Are there "hybrid" sects between Sunni and Shia?
Barelvi Hazrat seem to sit between core sunni and core shia people .. just an observation ..
although their belief system is closer to Sunni, their ways of showing respect is closer to Shia hazraat ..
Re: Are there "hybrid" sects between Sunni and Shia?
Yes brevies are called half shia.
Re: Are there "hybrid" sects between Sunni and Shia?
Intially there was no clear doctrinal difference between shias and sunnis until Imamaiyah doctrine became prevalent in the 2nd century hijrah.
today the closest sect u can find like this are the Zaydi [5ers] shias ...they are prominent only in yemen sadly
the mutazili also had beliefs which are a mixture of todays shias and sunnis beliefs
but they are extinct as well.
But its wrong to call them hybrid as these sects actually predated the some of the present fiqahs .....

Peace
There is no such thing as dogmatic creedal hybrids. It seems when a people split they do so not to combine with other groups but to specialise their own group. The branching mindset takes everyone away from everyone else.
However, in matters of economics and social standing many varied groups come together on grounds of same purpose. This may be a means to reconcile difference at least in outwardness. We should all love one another enough to try and embrace for the sake of unity rather than disown for the sake of being puritan.
