I see a lot of ‘Sects’ in Islam and debates about their relative merits in this Forum.

Reminds me of sub-cultures in India or Caste System of Hinduism sometimes!!!

One thing common to most of these sects seem to be that they declare other sects as Non-Muslims!!!

Like Sunnis say Shias and Ahmediyas are Not Muslims at all etc.,

My question is this.

Are there any sects in Islam that DO NOT do so?
That just stick to their ways without bothering about other sects?

If you think about it, different denominations of Chrstianity don’t go around calling others non-christians.
Same goes for Hinduism. different Castes don’t call others Non-Hindu.
This seems to be peculiar to Muslims!!!
I don’t understand why!!
Part of it seems to me cultural and political.
Like Persian-Arab lead to Shia-Sunni.

Not all members of sects declear each other as non muslims.

there are people who even don't fall in these sects.

christians don't label each other as non christians but still they do label each other as absolutely wrong. They have been burning and slaguhtring each other over sects. so i don't see much difference.
In hindiusm , you people don't have specific rules or gods,, one can do whatever he/she wants . probably thats why you people don't label each other as non hindus.

actually i don't know the answer to your question because i have the same question.

It's the **people not the sects **and these people are stupid to judge who is a muslim and who is not. saying that there are clear guidelines on which majority of muslims agree upon that what are rights and wrongs. Discussion about each other's belief is allowed with openmindedness so that whoever is better should be followed. Prophet said that there would be 72 sects but only one of them would be on right path. he didn't mention which one is on the right path. so the beauty of Islam is not in sticking to ur own beliefs but discussing it within due parameters i.e. there is one God and Mohammed (pbuh) is his prophet.

In hinduism, correct me if i m wrong, it's rather part of the religion. You might argue that it has not been followed in India but the fact remains that it is part of the religion and still people believe in it. Hell, even some paki muslims believe in this zaat (caste) stuff due to the influence of hindu religion.

I think people in this forum are going to correct you on this.
Infact I remember there is a Hadith, where the Prophet mentions the different sects and how those who stick with him will end up in heaven!!!

CASTE is definitely part of Hinduism. But it is more like which Caste is superior, none of them denies other Caste is Hindu.

Anyways, HInduism is a different story.

I personally believe these different ‘Sects’ of Islam and Chrstianity are the equivalent of ‘Castes’ in HInduism.
That’s why they persecute each other whenver they can!!

simple ego at work with muslims too.evrybody wants to be the believer on the right path.people r lazy.if i start a new religion saying u dont have to pray no doubt there will be followers in due time.who cares.WHO AMONG US WETHER A MUSLIM OR HINDU OR SHIA OR SUNNY FOLLOWS HIS OWN BELIEFS TO THE COMPLETE EXTENT OF SAYING THAT I FOLLOW MY RELIGION COMPLETELY.
we all like to talk.knowing that we havent got the guts to break away from the festivities that life has to offer we all just relieve our pent up aggressions this way,and feel unique like we r something.

we all stink and sweat the same ,need to go to the bathroom,eat ,etc
we all were made the same way from fluids that make us muslims napak ,we will all rot in due time but we want to feel special.

No, he was asked which sect would be the saved sect and he answered by saying it'd be the one on which ** HE AND HIS COMPANIONS ARE ON ** .

Abu Hurairah said that Allaah's Messenger said, "All of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse." It was said, "Who will refuse?" He replied. "Whoever obeys me enters Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused." Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. trans. 9/284/n0.384).

Imaam Maalik said,"The Sunnah is like the Ark of Noah. Whoever embarks upon it reaches salvation and whoever refuses is drowned." Quoted by Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah in Majmoo' ul-fataawaa (4/57).

As is shown by the hadeeth of at-Tirmidhee (no. 2641): 'Abdullaah ibn 'Amr said: The Messenger of Allaah said,"What happened to the Children of lsraa'eel will happen with my Ummah, just as one shoe resembles the other, to the point that if one of them had intercourse with his mother openly, there would be someone who did that in my Ummah. The Children of Israa'eel split into seventy two sects and my Ummah will split into seventy three sects, all of which are in the Fire except one sect." They asked, "Which is that one, 0 Messenger of Allaah?" He replied, "That which I and my Companions are upon." Declared hasan by Shaikh al-Albaanee.

Anas, radiallaahu 'anhu, reports that the Prophet said, "Indeed the Children of Israa'eel divided into seventy one sects and my Ummah will divide into seventy two sects, all of them will be in the fire except one and that is the Jamaa'ah." Reported by Ibn Maajah (no. 3993) and declared saheeh by Shaikh al-Albaanee.

*The Companions Are The Foundation of the Jamaa'ah *

The foundation upon which the Jamaa'ah is built is the Companions of Muhammad May Allaah's Mercy be upon them all. They are Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah,[1] so whoever does not take from them has gone astray and innovated[2] and every innovation is misguidance, and misguidance and its People are in the Fire.[3]

It is authentically reported that Allaah's Messenger said,"Stick to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs after me, cling to that with your molar teeth and beware of new matters, for every innovation is misguidance." Reported by Ahmad, Abu Daawood (Eng. trans. 3/1294/no.4590), at-Tirmidhee (no. 2676), Ibn Maajah (no. 42), ad-Daarimee (no. 96) and Ibn Abee 'Aasim in as-Sunnah (no. 54). Shaikh al-Albaanee declares, "Its isnaad is saheeh, its narrators reliable."

  2. Jaabir, radiallaahu'anhu, reports that the Prophet would say in his khutbah, "... The most truthful speech is the Book of Allaah. The best way is the way of Muhammad. The worst of affairs are the novelties and every novelty is an innovation and every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the Fire." Reported by an-Nasaa'ee (3/188). It is declared saheeh by Shaikh al-Albaanee in Saheeh Sunan in-Nasaa'ee (no. 1487).

Abu Shaamah (d.665H) said,"The order to stick to the Jamaa'ah means sticking to the truth and its followers; even if those who stick to the truth are few and those who oppose it are many; since the truth is that which the first Jamaa'ah from the time of the Prophet and his Companions, radiallaahu 'anhum, were upon. No attention is given to the great number of the people of futility coming after them." (Al-Baa'ith 'alal-Bida'h wal-Huwaadith, p.l9).

Ali ibn Abi Talib(ra) said in one of the sermons Quoted in Nahjul Balagha:

"With regard to me, two categories of people will be ruined, namely he who loves me too much and the love takes him away from Rightfulness, and he who hates me too much and the hatred takes him away from Rightfulness. The best man with regard to me is he who is on the middle course. So be with him and be with the great majority (of Muslims) because Allaah's hand (of protection) is on keeping unity".

Nahjul Balagha SERMON 126 About the Kharijites

In that time , people were three groups :

Kharijites who said that Imaam Ali was a disbeliever and they send Ibn Muljim to kill him and he did that.
Shi'ia's who said that he was infallible Imaam and Allaah had chosen him for leading Muslims . ect.
Sunnis ( Majority of Muslims ) who said that he was a great companion of the prophet and he was a great leader to Muslims but Muslims had chosen him to be their leader not Allaah.

There r many jamats who r working for the revival of Islam dont declare any sect as kafer
And they r right in doinn this.The decision of declairing sone one kafar should be taken by state and approptiate treatment should be done
other jamats r:Hizb ut Tehrir, Muhagiroon(both working for Khilafah)
For this we have to bring Islamic system
Allah(swt) knows better

which state? United States (of America)? or which one do you like? why does a state decide who is kafir and who is not? why not leave Allah SWT's job to himself? Did Allah SWT ask us to label other as "kafir"?

What Allah SWT asked of us is to deliver the message of Allah SWT's oneness.

4- Political Activism: By putting political programs for “Islamising” government in different countries (after realistic studies), and establishing these programs thru the convenient ways which do not conflict with Islam.
5- Stressing Physical Health: By forming sports clubs and committing members to regular exercises.
6- Enriching Scientific Study: By enhancing the knowledge of members and others about Islam. Members with “Shari’a” major have special study programs.
7- Establishing a Sound Economic Infrastructure: By supporting and/or sponsoring any Islamic project and facing its “fiqh” problems. By the way, the ONLY accepted source of money to the Ikhwan is its members’ OWN money [3].
8- Fostering Social ties: By maintaining brotherhood links among the members of the Islamic society.

The very first aim is to Reject any thing that contradicts the Sunnah!!

I don’t know what Shias and other ‘Sects’ think about that?
