it’s called sarcasm. We do it just to take the mick, something you americans won’t understand. ![]()
Re: Are there any differences between British Pakistani's and Pakistani Americans?
I think any Pakistanis raised in the west are going to be similar, and the specifics as many have said before will depend on the family and the individual's personality. You are asking to generalize two continents which are quite similar. If it was between Pakistani guy and a Pakistani-American there would be more room to generalize. As advised before, I would stick with the Brit guy, closer to parents, closer to Pakistan.

I don't think its just the Brit Pakis, it other ethnicities as well (the 'x'). But not all of us use them, I for one don't. Dunno why but I find it to be kinda derogatory and CRINGE (786), the unnecessary use of '786' = just lost its meaning now.
I do use 'xx' in my texts though.
Re: Are there any differences between British Pakistani's and Pakistani Americans?
Yes, why can;t the brits speak clearly like us americans?
In what sense?

It doesn't have any actual religious significance anyway..
Re: Are there any differences between British Pakistani's and Pakistani Americans?
Naturally I think a person would be more attracted to the one living in close proximity to their family, and raised in the same culture. The British one would be more ideal in your case, compared to the American.
Re: Are there any differences between British Pakistani's and Pakistani Americans?
American immigrants from Asia tend to be wealthier and more educated than their European counterparts because of how difficult it is to get residency, and citizenship. Pakistani Ameircans are no exception. On the other hand most European Asian immigrants are more poor, less educated and integrated for the same reasons (white Europeans low birthrate=less leverage over getting better immigrants). So the tendency is yes Pakistani Amerians are more educated and wealthier off, not because of a mentality but due to demographics.
More importantly I think most of us have settled with our American identity and are American Muslims. Are Pakistani factors little into the equation. American Muslims have their own problems and legacy to worry about. British Pakistanis on the other hand mantain a hosuehold and cultural values that make you think they will be returning to a land they have never or barely seen in their life.
They also confuse Mirpuri northern PUnjabi culture with Islam. I find British Pakistanis to be a lot closer to American Arabs than American desis.

Im a Pakistani but not mirpuri and I do agree with that aspect (confusing the mirpuri culture - it is beyond annoying). But in what sense do u mean that British Pakistanis are closer to AmArabs?

It just like a friendly thing to do generally, I guess its British culture. Its like showing a 'friendlier' version as opposed to a full stop. However, it can also be used sarcastically especially during banter. e.g. Person A: I hate you Person B: Aw I love you too xx
Re: Are there any differences between British Pakistani's and Pakistani Americans?
If all else is the same, go for the Brit-Paki. the first year of marriage is hard. There are so many adjustments to make, it helps if someone is culturally similar to you.
