Several years ago I used to enjoy watching music videos…I’d get home from school and flick on the tv…set the channel to Much Music and watch away while I did my homework.
Recently I decided that while I was cleaning the house I would stick it on Much Music and let the videos/music entertain me while I worked.
It didn’t last very long…not only did I find some of the lyrics in the music offensive, I didn’t appreciate the extent of nudity in the videos. Nor the promotion of the promiscuous lifestyle.
What’s happened? Have our standards gone down? Have we become relaxed in what we consider to be taboo?
toni braxton, bif naked, salt n peppa, lil kim tend to always do a good job of that
and i’m very serious in my reply mind you.
the womyn’s sexuality is taking wayyy much advantage off in music videos its disgusting ..
for once, let its be the males being promoted rather

Firstly Muzna, standards change all the time. music is like fashion, it needs to constantly change otherwise it becomes stale and boring. And what we Pakistanis think is taboo is not necessarily so for others. Similar to Big Brother which is basically voyeur tv and pretty crap in my view. Yet the dumb frickin brits voted in larger numbers than the general election to kick some spazzer out of the house.
aphro, don't argue with what the public wants. Market forces decide what the video promoters show and if it's more profitable to show nice girls in their skimpy stuff you can't really argue with the money men can you? You know it makes sense. Not that I approve mind you.
be careful. you may get blasted as a suburbanite who does not understand the hip hop culture and the mindframe of the black nation who has gone through so much etc etc etc.
Got to agree with Fraudz. Nudity in music videos is the fault of the blasted black nation. It doesnt count that the majority of those who watch the crude stuff arent kaloo.
One of these days they'll figure out a way on how to get the ghetto out of the kaloo, but there really is no hope of getting the pind out of a paindoo.
Hey ..Are u talking about..Paki FILM VIDOES or pakistai music videos.I never see any thing bad in pakistani music videos..which 1 u are talkiing about.tell me that first..
I think muzna was referring to the obscene lyrics and the nudity in the videos. heavy metal does not even come close to ghetto rap in that arena.
queer you are right that as long as there is demand there would be supply, but is that right? thereis tons of demand for drugs too but we frown upon that. The question of artistic reponsibility has not hit music videos and video geames as hard as it should have. and dont worry..they would not need to take the pind outta u.. a little bhangra hurts no one
Fraudia, when the best-selling newspaper in Britain is a tabloid that's main selling point is a topless model then I don't think that we can complain too loudly if the kaloos are making raunchy videos these days.
In a democracy you take the bad with the good. If we are going to point fingers then it has to be at everyone. If ghetto rappers are pushing the limits, then that's because the limits are there to be pushed. Whose going to stand in the way? Pamela Anderson in her black leather thigh boots?
welll....i would sorta agree with muzna here...coz i do homework in front of my tv....not helpfull but hey!!!
and most of the music videos r real crap and some of the songs u just can't understand and sometimes the videos doesn't make sense...i mean y there is nudity in it and it doesn't even make sense....i dunno what i just wrote but i think its worth reading....but u guys gotta try MUCH MORE MUSIC on channel 78!!!
n e ways i am justa kid may be i don't know n e thing...BUT my opinion counts!!!

Some of you guys are blaming more at the (kalay) musicians themselves that as if it’s them in particular who promote the nudity in their videos.
but no, fact is, it’s the record companies of those artists who pressure them to sell more of their records. and what sells better than sex ? frankly those artists aren’t given much of a choice considering their record companies are being such a bother.
and then there’s the conflict of how the artist of the song wants his video to be like, and what the director/record company wants it to be like. the director is pressured by teh record compnay once again
and this sort of process has carried on so much for so long , that for some reason it’s the BLACKS who have been given the image of being the ones at fault.
remember how the media tends to only look at things only at the surface ? well this is no different … for some reason the things at the surface ( the musicians in this case ) appear to be at fault when really, ti’s not them at all.
btw, muzna, much music had a show on a few weeks ago titled “Too much for much?” on how this female sexuality business is going to far or not. it was a very good, constructive show mind you.
pardon my intrusion but i could not tolarate the racism which u have shown in your reply…they r not refered to as “BLACKS or KALAS”…they r AFRICAN AMERICANS…if u can’t say it then don’t say n e thing…its just rude and sad to see people r so racist here!!!
