This is a question that can really only be answered on a case-by-case basis IMHO. Like X2 said, its typically the dad that provides the most income and physical support. Sometimes, the dads provide the majority of the emotional support too. Not always, surely but sometimes at least. But I really dont think that this is something that one can "generalize" about yeah? Each person and each family is different and when things deteriorate to the point that the family must split, it sadly comes down to figuring out what is best for the kids without bringing in animosities between the parents. Sometimes that means they should be with mom most of the time and sometimes it means they should be with dad. In either case, its the kids that should be considered and leave any and all animosities out of their realm.
